Update on the Somewhat Cowl (You want a tighter fit?)

I have been watching your progress on the Somewhat Cowl with interest and notice that some of you Sexy Knitters aren't getting the snug fit you're looking for.

If you want a more snug-fitting Somewhat Cowl, I'd suggest that you make the following change: instead of working the raglan measurement as long as what is printed in the pattern, shorten it as follows (the smaller sizes are not affected): Work the raglan increases until it measures (from the neckline, along the diagonal to the underarm, 10(10, 10.25, 10.25, 10.5, 10.75, 11) inches.

If you shorten this measurement, your sweater will fit a bit tighter. Of course, this is entirely up to you and your personal preference. I suspect that if you try it on as you go (and as I encourage you to do), the way it fits will be your guide.

Not everyone will choose to make this adjustment because, and especially if you use the same yarn as I did and knit up a size 38 or below, you will find your sweater fits as shown. There's something about the pesky standard charts I followed for the raglan measurements that make the sweater get progressively looser as the size goes up.

I'll make an update available soon, if necessary. In the meantime, have fun!

I think it's time to set up a knit and tonic testing group, I'm sure you'll have knitters clamoring to help.
