rusted root, and maybe more!

Hello all! I'm new to the Sexy Knitters' Club. I'm Lauren (or Leo - although I read a lot of blogs, I'm pretty new to participating in the knitting blog world. Since I spend a great deal of time on my school work I don't have a ton of time during which to knit, so I tend to post about other things like food, what else I'm doing, or nothing at all.). I live in Chicago, I'm a graduate student, and I've been knitting for about .... ohhhh probably 6 years now? It's hard to remember when I started exactly.

Originally I joined the SKC with the intention of knitting Sahara on some tussah silk yarn that I got off of ebay a while back, but I swatched it and I just hate the way the yarn looks and feels. I got indecisive and obsessive about it, and I really felt like I should use something out of my stash, so I swatched some green Inca Wool that I have for Rusted Root, and I think I'll do that one instead! I'd still loooove to make a Sahara, but I'd really like it to work with some yarn I already have. My stash is just completely out of hand, especially considering that I'm living in a pretty small apartment with two roommates on my graduate student stipend! Yikes.

So, happy knitting to all, and I can't wait to see everyone's work!

I'll be doing Sahara

I just finished Eiffel, and ordered the pattern and some yarn samples to figure out what color I want to make it in. so I should be starting it within the week.

I'm in for Sahara

But I'll be starting a little late. Ordered my yarn yesterday, so it won't be here for a few more days. Anyway, the 1st is my birthday and I'll be too busy celebrating to to do any serious knitting.
I love this pattern to pieces and can hardly wait to get going on it. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's, too!

Ready for the Sahara

Well my Goshen from WEBS worked out great! For Sahara. I swatched up on size 7s and 6s and then washed up the swatch, and got gauge on size 6s. The color is great too! I can't wait to start. The yarn seems really nice to work with!
I plan on taking this as my vacation project during spring break!

OH Yeah, Wendy posted a great little tutorial on the provisional cast on .... If you are doing Sahara you might want to go check it out!!!!!!! SUCH and easy way!!!! Be sure to go check it out!
I also got my yarn for Rusted Root too....

Another newbie introduction

Hi everyone,

My name is Karen and I live in Townsville in tropical north Queensland, Australia. I am mum to 2 kids, Reigan (girl, 9) and Asher (boy, 4). My passion is hand embroidery - wool, silk ribbon, bullion, fine thread, stumpwork but I've rediscovered a love for knitting and crochet. I've not long returned to these (knitting and crochet, that is) after discovering the numerous beautiful projects available on the web. It's so much easier to knit or crochet when we're driving.

I've been reading this blog for a while, but was excited to see Sahara as the next KAL and was tempted to join up finally. I'm nearly finished a jumper for DH and I've been dithering about my next project. Trying to decide between it, SKB and Rowan's Butterfly. This decided me. I've had the yarn and pattern since Christmas and I can't wait to start. I'll be doing mine in Rowan's Summer Tweed. I think the colour's called Summer Berry, a deep red. I swatched last night and am waiting for it to dry to check gauge. Roll on April 1!

Excited to Join

I just joined and this is my 2nd KAL. I ordered my pattern and am (im)patiently waiting for it to arrive! (I only ordered it Saturday, but I can't wait to get it.) I'm also on a stash diet. I have some Frog Tree Pima Silk in a beautiful dark purple that has a ball band gauge of 5 st/1". I'm planning a swatch today to see how it will knit up. If it won't work I have plenty of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece to pick from.

Also, after seeing all the photos of Wicked I ordered the pattern as well.

Can't wait to get knitting!

CotLin for Sahara?

I've been really thinking about the yarn choices for Sahara. I want something cool for the summer, so I thought that KnitPick's new Cotlin would be perfect. The only thing is that it's officially a DK yarn. Do you think it would work? On Wendy's list of possible yarn substitutions, she included one DK yarn as well (Classic Elite Premier).

What are you all getting for your Sahara?

All set to go!

Greetings fellow sexy knitters!

This will be my first KAL and I can't wait to start. I have both patterns for Rusted Roots and Sahara, but have never attempted Sahara. Perhaps it's the way that the Sahara instructions are presented (does anyone else find the crammed pages a little overwhelming?) that has prevented me from trying it, but this knit along is just the thing I needed to get me started on it! I 'm still debating if I made the right decision, but I decided to splurge on the Tilli Tomas yarn (in dark purple), so I am really hoping that Sahara turns out nice.

Can't wait to start!

One More Wicked! Finally!

Hello everyone, this is my first post to the SKC since I finally decided to officially join after lurking on the site for a few months. I did knit Wicked along the the KAL, my first sweater - also my first wearable item other than a scarf! Now I am off and running. I can't seem to stop looking at yarn, dreaming about what I'm going to make next!

(Please ignore my messy kitchen, it seems I knit more than I clean now! Oooops)
(My six year old took the picture for me, not bad considering the camera was almost as big as she is!)

I used Debbie Bliss Merino Aran in Moss Green and US size 8 needles.
I added an inch to the length and a few decreases to the waist. I also had to decrease a few stitches on the arms because I had to pick up a few stitches to close a hole in the armpitt that formed when I joined the sleeves. Is this normal? I couldn't find any info in the pattern so I don't know if I did something wrong. That was definately the most challenging part of the sweater - picking up those stitches. I'm satisfied with the end result, but if anyone knows any tips/tricks to the proper way to do it, please let me know! I really want to learn. My next project will be Rusted Root, and I'm ordering Cotton Fleece in Candy Apple for it. My LYS isn't that great, so I'm ordering a lot of my yarn online, and living in Canada, it takes a while to get here from the States. I have to be patient I guess! Take care everyone!

One Last Wicked

I used Artyarns Supermerino 233 on size 8 Addi's. Not bad for my first sweater. Tears weren't shed but there was a lot of frustration with sizing. My first go at it, Wicked turned out way too big so I frogged it all. I went down a size and this was the result. Still a little too big in the sleeves and neckline but I'm ok with it. I'm ready to move on and try out Rusted Root. =)

Sahara Yarn Subs

Just wanted to let everyone know (if they haven't discovered it yet) that Wendy over at Knit and Tonic just posted a list of appropriate yarn substitutes for Sahara. Hope this helps! It sure helps me, since I'm extraordinarily bad at substituting yarn :) Happy knitting ladies!

Rusted Root

I am jumping back into the KAL this time after a long absence (I started but never finished the Somewhat Cowl) to work on Rusted Root. My drug of choice for this garment is Lion Brand Cottonease, which is cheap and in abundance at Michael's.

I wanted a really bright color for this knit and originally was going to use the cotton fleece as the pattern suggests but my LYS doesn't carry a wide range of colors, I didn't want to order online, I didn't want to spend a lot of money AND I wanted to work with cottonease again so I am going with the color Lake. Even though it is not bright I can still wear it in the fall and winter with a long-sleeved shirt so I am happy about that.

Rusted Root Yarn

I am very excited about doing Rusted Root. It has been on my wish list for quite some time, and this Kal helped bring it to the top of the list. As for yarn choice, I really want to try one of the newer yarns like soy or bamboo. But I have never worked with either -- any suggestions?

Sunflower Rusted Root

Hello Sexy Knitters. I don't think Sahara would look nice on me, so I'm just going to knit Rusted Root. I've been wanting to for a while now so... yay! I just ordered the pattern and my yarn. I'm going to try out KnitPicks Shine Worsted in 'Sunflower,' a nice summery yellow. This is my first SKC knitalong, so I'm excited! I can't wait to start...

Yarn ordered!

Since I already had both the Rusted Root and Saharah patterns..LOVE them both! I ordered yarn this weekend for both of them! I ordered the Cotton Fleece for rusted root in the same shade as the picture, and a green, but I have some in pale turquiose so I have to decided which I'm going to use for sure once the new stuff arrives!

I also ordered a yarn for Saharah from WEBS I order their Valley Yarns goshen in purple haze. I thought about ripping my SKB and using htat yarn. But I think I want to frog it and try again a size or 2 smaller. I did really want to order the Tili Thomas silk in their purple colorway but didn't want to spend that kind of money on it right now.

I can't wait for it to arrive so I can swatch!!

Original post:
The Sexy Knitters Club flickr group(s) are now up and running!

Right now there are three, with more to come (we will have one for each KAL).

The general SKC flickr group to share pictures of all the sexy knitting you've been doing can be found here

The SKC Wicked KAL group is here

The SKC Eiffel KAL group is here

More KAL groups will be added as Carissa (that's me) can figure out what they were. If you have information on previous KAL's, please leave a comment on this post or send a message through flickr ( here). I need the name/pattern of the KAL and where I can find the pattern (website? book? etc).

To join a group (or all of them), go to that group's home page as linked above and click "join this group?". If you don't already have a flickr account, you'll need to create one, but don't worry it's free and is a great way to share your pics online. Once you've joined a group, you can add photos to the group pool by clicking "organize" from your profile, clicking the "groups" tab and then dragging the appropriate pics to the right spot.

If you have any questions about how this works, leave a comment here and I'll make a point of getting back to you quickly.

Rusted Root Rocks & Yarns for Sahara

I actually knitted Rusted Root last month, right after Wicked b/c I was so taken with the ease of the Zephyr patterns & I love it - details on my blog, in the FO album & here. I have plans to make another one for my mother soon, hopefully for mother's day this year, but I need to get a move on.

I do want to knit Sahara, but for reasons I think we all know at this point and b/c it's insanely expensive, I won't use Tilli Thomas.

It does say on the pattern that any worsted weight yarn will do, and when you buy the pattern it gives you specific options, knitpicks andean silk, karabella aurora 8, cascade pima silk, lion cashmere blend, berocco softtwist & then berocco laser fx and berocco mirror fx as carry alongs for the accented edging.

I'm not interested in andean silk at this point in the year, so I'm thinking either cascade pima silk, misti alpaca pima cotton silk or knitpicks mainline. I'm concerned about the draping effect, does anybody have any experience with any of these yarns? Any other subsitutions that will work well?

Woohoo! Let's get our knit on!!

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

And the Winner Is...

Sahara. The knit along will officially begin April 1st and will run until mid May.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who responded to my plea for help, and a big thanks to Carissa who is putting together Flickr Groups for each of our knit alongs (see post right below this one) and Miss M who helped assemble all the nominations for this past poll. Please be sure to get your photos uploaded to the appropriate Flickr Groups so that we can WOW all those who are checking out our previous knit alongs. The more pics we have uploaded to each group, the better!

Once again I would like to address the issue of posting once again. Please please please, if you are going to post, please post responsibly by checking for (and deleting) multiple posts. We are unable to delete multiple posts from our end, but if each one of you could check back approximately 15 minutes after you post to make sure your post didn't publish multiple times, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Edited To Add: It's official! Due to popular demand, this next knit along will be another "double" knit along and will include anybody who would like to knit Rusted Root!

Another Wicked

I'm a bit late, but I finally finished my Wicked. I ran into some issues with the colors pooling in this yarn (supermerino), but seeing all of your FO's kept me at it. I really love this sweater and hope to get lots of wear from it. You can see all the details etc at my blog. Looking forward to seeing what you all decide to do next.

introduction...and nomination for KAL

Hi there, sexy knitters!
I'm delighted to join the group, and I'm sorry I missed the Wicked KAL, as I've been drooling over that pattern for a while. My name is Shannon, and I'm a Californian living in southern Vermont. I'm cold, so my current project is the Mohair Cables Pullover from the book Alterknits. I'm enjoying my recent discovery that cables are not, in fact, frightening. I think it's a damn sexy sweater, and to the right is a pic of the WIP.

I'm a spinner, with a website to be launched on april 4. you can find me and my wares at: http://www.thespunmonkey.com, and i have a blog at: http://www.livejournal.com/users/thespunmonkey

Anyway, I'd love to put in a vote for Rusted Root as the next KAL. I'm sure it will be warm enough to wear short sleeves soon, right??? I'm also quite in love with the Sasha skirt that i saw a few posts back. It's lovely, looks like a blast to knit, and it would be fun to see how everyone makes it their own.

Thanks for reading!

Introduction

Hi all! I've been lurking around reading about all the Wicked and Eiffel that you all have been creating. I'm addicted! I can't wait to see what will be the next project and join in!

Just a short introduction about myself: I'm a college student who tries to knit every so often in between homework assignments. I've been married for almost 3 years now, and my husband, being an artist, helps me immensely in picking out colors (and matching them!) in my knitting projects. I have a knit blog at http://someyarn.wordpress.com.

I'd like to second the nomination for Isabella from Knitty. The pattern is sexy, and free, so it'll be accessible. The gauge is a little intimidating, but aren't we all up to a challenge?

Opinions PLEASE!

I've been finishing up the 1 skein felted
stripe bag today. As I sit here wanting
to scratch my eyes, nose and throat out... due to allergies. But, that is another story.

I finished it up. Put it on the floor to take a "pre" felt and finish photo ... and I notice that it looks sort of like a tank top. Of course I decide to try it on. And now I'm stuck .... do I finish it off as a tank or just felt the mother. Comments? Help??

Nomination - Tulip

I'd like to nominate Tulip from the latest Rowan magazine (no 41). The magazine's a bit pricy so I'd go for a general wrap-around sweater KAL if people don't want to buy a magazine.

indecent proposal :)

i have an idea for a future kal (maybe the one after this one, or the one after that): what if *we* were the designers of the patterns we knitted? i don't mean every participant designs her own, just that the patterns all have to be designed by participants? i know that there are professional designers among us, but there are also people who are amateur designers or people like me who've always wanted to try their hand at designing. i have ideas about what's flattering and have an idea for a pattern; this would be a great catalyst for me to actually implement it into a pattern. we would nominate them and vote on them the same as always.
what do you think?

Late Too!

I'm also late to the party, but here's my finished Wicked!
Pattern: Wicked from ZephyStyle
Size: Second to the smallest size (35" bust)
Yarn: Just over 3 skeins of Hill Country Yarns Merino Silk in Teal
Time to make: I could have finished this in about a week if I hadn't run out of yarn
Notes: I lengthened the sweater by about an additional 3 inches. This pattern is very well written and is lots of fun to make. I could definitely see me making another in a somewhat chunkier yarn next winter.

I'm Wicked late to the party, but at least I crossed the finish line. Check out deets on my blog.

Arisaig

This wrapped cardigan has been nominated for previous SKC KALs, and I really like it. The wrapped style is flattering for most body types, and I think it would be cute for summer with short or 3/4 length sleeves. The free pattern is from Knitty. Blogger isn't letting me post a picture, so please check out the link!

My nominations again

OK I found some better pictures of my nominations on Knit Simple's site, but I don't think my first post came through anyway!
So Here are 2 tanks from the magazine that I really like. There are several from this issue I'd love to knit! The magazine is only $5.99 US Dollars

called Coral masterwork

and Here's Pink Braidy

What do you think?

IN a PS I'd love it if we switched to typepad...I've redone this post like 4 times and it keeps messing up on me!

New Updates!

Hello Sexy Knitters! Here are some new updates for everybody regarding the last knit along, the next knit along, and posting.

First, thank you to everybody who participated in the last Consumer-Friendly-Yarn-themed knit along. This knit along was one of our most successful knit alongs ever! And since the issue of Consumer Friendly Yarns is so important, we'll be sure to sponsor more of these in the near future! As the last knit along would confirm, there certainly are plenty of patterns available using Consumer Friendly Yarns. I would like to personally thank Rachel and Sarah from Zephyr Style and Lana from Hemp For Knitting for choosing consumer-friendly yarns to use in your designs.

Our knit along winner of the Sexy Knitters Club tote and skein of Hill Country Yarns Sweet Feet sock yarn is Susan C. from No Knit Sherlock! Congratulations Susan! Be sure to email me with your mailing address and your sock yarn color choice!

Our next knit along is right around the corner. Today is the last day to get your nominations in, so if your favorite pattern hasn't already been nominated, be sure to nominate it today. I am looking for volunteers to help me gather up the top 20 nominations so that we can put together our next poll. If you are able to help, please email me. For those of you who don't already know, our poll will only allow up to 20 nominations, therefore leaving comments for your favorite nomination matters when we're selecting the top 20 for our poll. Nominations that have zero comments will often be eliminated from the top 20 due to lack of interest. People often wonder why some of the patterns are left off the poll and this is why.

This past knit along inspired me to put together galleries of all the finished projects from this and all previous knit alongs. This would be a fabulous but huge undertaking (one that's much too large for just one person) so if any of you would like to volunteer to help accomplish this, please let me know.

Finally, I would like to address the issue of posting once again. Please please please, if you are going to post, please post responsibly by checking for (and deleting) multiple posts. We are unable to delete multiple posts from our end, but if each one of you could check back approximately 15 minutes after you post to make sure your post didn't publish multiple times, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, speaking about posting responsibly, please be sure all posts are SKC related. Posts that are off-topic and or solicitous in nature will be deleted. Please be advised that repeat offenses of this type may lead to dismissal from the SKC. Since Blogger is still having so many posting problems, We are still considering switching over to Typepad to host the Sexy Knitters Club site. Once again, this would take a lot of work. Before we make such a big decision, I would really love to hear from all of you (in the form of a comment to this post) whether you are in favor of such a switch or not. The switch would mean invitations would be re-sent to all 768 of you and you would have to re-activate your membership by accepting the invitation. Volunteers would (once again) be needed to help accomplish this, so please give me your input regarding this switch.

As you all can see, volunteers are greatly needed as the SKC continues to grow. Once again, if you are willing and able to help, please let me know!

Check back soon for the next knit along poll!

Nomination

I say we all knit this (right) and see if ANYONE can make it look sexy!?!
Just kidding!!! I actually searched and searched for something that I thought might be flattering to most body types. I came up with Picovoli by Grumperina and was informed you ladies knitted that already (I assume before I joined). I will nominate this pattern from Garn (scandanavian for "yarn") Studio (above) . The pattern is free. It looks like a nice spring/summer knit. I think the lines are very flattering to most body types. You can check out the pattern at http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/showphotosearch.php?d_nr=101&d_id=30
I have not knitted one yet. So I can't tell you how goes it. I'm sure we can figure out any yarn substitutes if we wanna.

New sexy knitter

Hi, I'm new. I'm not feeling at my sexiest at the moment - I have a three month old daughter. Maybe this blog will help! I'm impressed with all the Wicked's you guys have made. They're gorgeous. I would like to second the nomination for Eunny's Deep V Argyle Vest. It would be a challenge for me but she designs such beautiful stuff. It would be a good, sexy office piece. Another option is Kim Hargreave's blithe. It seems to only come in kit form but would be great for all you folks in the northern hemisphere with summer on its way.

St. Paddy's Day Contest for Sexy Knitters!

While we are all waiting to find out what the next SKC project will be...I am in the middle of knitting a sweater that is kicking my butt!!! I have just reached a milestone in the pattern & to celebrate I have a little contest going on until St. Patrick's Day over on my blog. Come on by and take a guess. (There are fabulous prizes to win..bribe, bribe, bribe -shameless I know) See you guys on the KAL & "May the Luck O'the Irish be widdya!"
Happy St. Pat's -Susan.

Hey guys - thanks for the comments regarding my first post. I LOVE that I got such a nasty comment - go check it out - it is pretty darn funny. I just want to say - it fits well, EXCEPT for two things - the neck band is too large which you can't really see in the picture. I wore it out for a test drive and I was constantly fiddling with the neck line to have it sit further down on my shoulders. I do not have a wide shoulder width which is why this sweater doesn't fit me well. I can wear a child's size 10/12 tee-shirt because of how small my should width is and I am not a small woman by any means!

It would look much better on someone with broader shoulders - google finished Wickeds and compare those with wide and not so wide shoulders and judge which one looks better.

Second issue with this sweater is I made TOO many increases for the sleeves and the sleeves puff out where they meet the bust line. Not too flattering, that is for sure.

Oh yeah - the alpaca I used was very cheap, ur, inexpensive, so maybe that is why it is itchier that other alpaca yarns. Who knows. It just turned out to be a very sucky sweater and who cares, I enjoy the process of knitting. Also, I now know what doesn't look good on me, and I know how many stitches to increase to with top downers, so at the end of the day, I came out a winner even if the sweater didn't.

Have a good one.

One more . . .

I know I recommended a sweater already for the next KAL, but I also have been itching to knit Sasha for a while now. The warmer weather is quickly approaching, and by the time we finish, it will be VERY appropriate!!! I just wound my linen into balls, so I'd love to have some company for this very, very SEXY knit!!!
I wanted to nominate a pattern I found a while back and thought was really cute. It would make an awesome beach cover-up for summer, and it's really pretty.

Strut Your Stuff and Fetching

This is my first finished knitted project,
other than simple dishcloth's.
I just started knitting about 6 weeks ago and I just love it! I can crochet like the wind, but was always intimidated by knitting. Well, not anymore! I made this little sleeveless tank for my daughter Jennifer. She is modeling it for me. She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida so I thought it would be appropriate for the warmer climate. It is called Strut Your Stuff.

I also just finished my first project using DPN's. I took a class at my LYS to make these and I finished them after only my first class! I have 2 more sessions and I am already done!
These are called Fetching Fingerless Gloves.

Oh, and I also taught my mom who is 65 to knit.
Just proves that you are never too old to learn something new!

Nomanating Sexy Socks

I personally am a sock knitter. I think lacy socks are sexy, especially on one of us SKC members! So why not a Sexy Lacy Sock for a Kal eh? I am nominating
http://tinyurl.com/345q3f
Rainy-Day-Socks for our next KAL.

OK, I haven't cast on for Wicked yet, and my Sizzle is waiting for Spring (it's ALMOST finished) but I'd like to nominate Ms. Marigold !
It would be such a quick, sexy, fun little knit!

Past KAL list?

Is there a complete list somewhere of all the past KALs that SKC has done? I've got some catching up to do.

Better late than never

Opps the last post didnt make it so here goes again. Sorry for the late entry...

I finished wicked last week and it was a very satisfying knit. I loved how the colours turned out. I used Noro Silk Garden Colour 34. It is very scratchy though so I dont think I'll use it again. I left out the front pocket as i thought it looks better without. Had I knitted in a plain colour I might have added the pocket.

Nomination

I haven't even cast on my Wicked yet...where does the time go?
But I still have a nomination from the new Knitty!Isabella. It has a good range in sizes and is perfect for the warmer weather coming up.

Whoops and nom

Well, I somehow accidentally posted about another project here instead of on the correct blog, and now blogger won't let me delete the post. Sorry for being such a huge dork...

Well, as long as I'm here, hi, nice to meet you, I'm complainr. I might as well go ahead and throw out a nomination I'd been thinking about: Ms. Marigold!

Nomination

Here is another nomination from the new KNITTY
  • ISABELLA
  • Wicked in Rowan Denim

Wait for me!!! I got a late start because I was waiting on a backordered shipment of Rowan Denim (7 skeins in Memphis). This cotton yarn shrinks in length about 20% and fades just like denim. I debated knitting it longer to allow for shrinkage but didn't and it turned out just fine after washing. I prefer my tops to ride above the low-waist line anyways. Adjustments made: Used a #6 cn and knit the bottom ribbing in the crossover rib pattern for about 1 1/2 inches. KnitnRide

    Sexy Shawl

I finally finished my 'Half Circle Fan Lace Shawl' from "Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls" by Martha Waterman. I know it's not a KAL project, but to me a lace shawl is deffinately a sexy knit! Before blocking the shawl has a 'wingspan' greater than my 5'4" height. It isn't quite as deep as I had hoped, but hopefully blocking will take care of that. I will have to wait until I can go to the LYS to block the shawl as I don't have the floor space here, and dh (although supportive of my knitting addiction) just wouldn't tollerate my using the bed for blocking the shawl! (I know because I asked him. lol, yup I had to try...hehehehe)

    Sorry the picture sucks.

    nominations from sweaterbabe.com

i'd like to nominate two sweaters from sweaterbabe. one is called the fabulous lace inset cardigan, a bell-sleeved cardi for chilly air-conditioned offices and spring evenings, and the other is called the romantic cable and lace vest (though it's really an empire-waist cami).

(pics of the cardi are in my previous post)

    nomination: fabulous lace inset cardigan

i love this fabulous lace inset cardigan from sweaterbabe.com. if nominations are still going on, how about it?

the pattern is an $8 download and the recommended yarn is brown sheep lamp's pride bulky.

    Twinkle Cruise Substitutes...

From the back of her fantastic book:

Instead of knitting with four strands of Twinkle Handknit Cruise yarn, you can use a single strand, such as Jaeger's Pure Cotton, Crystal Palace Yarn's Breeze, Classic Elite Yarn's Bam Boo, Four Seasons and Povence, and Brown Sheep Company's Cotton Fleece nad Cotton Fine"

I think the confusing thing is that you use four strands of Cruise, so when you look at the yarn it doesnt make sense how it works in the pattern.

I was lucky enough to see her yarn at TNNA, she has great colours, really fabulous and lush. Look forward to seeing it in the shops.

Hope this helps, and yes, my vote would be for this sweater!

    Another Wicked!

So I finished my Wicked...actually awhile ago but I totally forgot to post it on here!

More details on my blog here...

Lots of fun to knit...I'm going to have to make another...

    Nominations

I would like to nominate Blue Sky's Eyelet Cardigan.

    Or Chicknits CeCe.

Wicked is done and man, I do not like this alpaca yarn or sweater on me! It is far from flattering and way too itchy.
    (Larger)
You can't really tell how much it doesn't fit me. Let me see if this picture tells the story:

    (Larger)

It is way TOO big around the neck line. I should have cast on for the smallest size to compensate for my rather smallish shoulder width and then increased until it fit me. The arms are way TOO big as well. I am now sure this yarn is not meant for me. I first used this alpaca to knit Something Red and that sweater looked horrible on me. Then I frogged it only to realize that alpaca is really kinky once you knit and frog it. So, I had to put the yarn into hanks, wash them and wait for them to dry. All this work and look - the thing is sucky!
It will feel good to drop this sucker into the Goodwill box.

    Sign me up...

I'd love to join this group of sexy ladies... a new KAL these days?

    Hello

I had a lovely post all written out and then I lost it :(

It pretty much said that I am very excited to be a part of this blog. I have a serious love affair with all things knitting related on the internet. Not sure why. The reason my blog is called me too, is cause I also wanted to be a part of the knitting blog thing, so here I am.

A bit of info about me. I'm an almost 29 yr old South African, I have a little girl (almost 4 months old) , one husband and one dog (Fudge). I'm not returning to work and try my best not to go too insane staying at home all the time.

Due to living in South Africa, it mght be a bit difficult for me to get the knit-along pattern, but I will do my best to get the pattern or to replicate it. I'm a very novice knitter, so I'm excited about knitting with some seasoned pros.

My nomination, which I hope isn't too easy .... are there any rules to nominations?

Glampyre Minisweater/Boobholder in Noro Silk Garden

Here are pics of my newest little project, the Glampyre Minisweater/Boobholder in Noro Silk Garden. The pattern is free on the Glampyre Knits website. It only took 3 skeins and 3 days to finish. I love it.

I second the nominations for the Lorelei tank, Al Araaf lacy wrap sweater & Sahara Stitch Diva sweater. They are each really cute and wearable.

Last Call For Wicked KAL Drawing Entries

We will be taking Wicked/Eiffel KAL drawing entries up until March 8th so get your entries in if you haven't already. Don't forget to include a pic of your finished Wicked/Eiffel or a link to a blog showing your FO.

Also, it appears (once again) that those of you who are requesting invitations to join the SKC are either not receiving those invitations or the membership activation link is now working properly, as I've still got TONS of unaccepted invitations to join. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you request an invitation to join, but sure to look for and activate your membership. If for some reason, you have not received your invitation within a week of requesting it, PLEASE email me and I'll re-send it to you.

Regarding multiple posts, PLEASE try to delete your own multiple posts, as I'm apparently unable to do so from my end (believe me, I've tried). I'm hoping that Blogger is eventually able to work through the technical issues they seem to be having regarding large team blogs so please hang in there. I have looked into transferring our team blog to Typepad although it appears that each member would have to re-register to the SKC and I really don't want to have to go through all that. IF however anybody is aware of another blogging service that would allow us to easily transfer our existing team members to a new team blog, I would LOVE to know about it (even if it's not a free service).

Lastly, I'd like to remind all of you who nominate patterns to hyperlink the name of the pattern (in other words, do not include the entire URL in the post, but hyperlink it instead). Long URL's mess up our sidebar and I'm frequently having to edit these posts.

    Thanks so much!

    Lorelei Nomination

I would like to nominate Lorelei for our next knit along. I think the pattern is sexy and springy and allows to get creative a bit with the design and yarn choice. The vertical eyelet rows are random and up to the knitter. The author also encourages you to experiment with different yarns. The pattern is from Yarn Play by Lisa Shobhana Mason. Really fun book. Cute, eh?

Also, Vogue Knitting finally has their spring preview up!

    nomination

i nominate "ruffled top" from knit.1, the "love issue" (december).
it's body hugging, the neck is interesting, short sleeves, easy to find yarn...
    what do you say?
