CotLin for Sahara?

I've been really thinking about the yarn choices for Sahara. I want something cool for the summer, so I thought that KnitPick's new Cotlin would be perfect. The only thing is that it's officially a DK yarn. Do you think it would work? On Wendy's list of possible yarn substitutions, she included one DK yarn as well (Classic Elite Premier).

What are you all getting for your Sahara?

After a trip to my LYS, I chose Berroco Glace in a wonderful coffee brown and Berroco Zodiac which has wonderful mixes of apple green, yellow, royal blue, orange, red, pink, purple, and cream. I'm working up my swatch today so that I can wash and block it tonight. Just in time to get going this weekend on the sweater. The most important part about what ever yarn you have chosen is to do the swatch. Keep trying until you achieve the correct gauge and all should be well. Good Luck and Happy Knitting!

I think of Premeiere as more of a "light worsted" than a dk. BUT, if you want to use the Cotlin, go for it! If your gauge is off, just go up or down one size in the pattern.

Thanks Jenny! That's a great idea. Hmm - yarn ordering might be in order.

I was thinking the CotLin as well, the red color...or the Berroco, which I have in my stash

I ordered Goshen, by Valley Yarns, which is Webs house brand yarn (www.yarn.com). It's a cotton / modal / silk blend, so I think it will have nice drape for this pattern. I'll post pictures when my yarn gets here and when I swatch :)

I just recieved the CotLin I ordered for Sahara, in island coral. It's relaly pretty but I swatched it on size 8 needles and it was still 5.5 sts per inch. I'm a tight knitter, but I think this really is a DK weight yarn. And I'm not sure about the steech, seeing as how th epattern calls for a negative ease. I think I may use this yarn for a lotus blossom tank instead and try Mainline, which is more cotton than wool so I think it will breathe nicely in the summer.

I just ordered Goshen from Webs. This will be my first "big person" sweater, having only made baby sweaters up until now! Wish me luck!
