A bit slow on the draw...

Hello everyone!

I'm Sarah, and I'm pretty new to the group. I did lurk for a while before joining.

I've just finished my Rusted Root, and I've started working on Fifi (Calmer in Laurel).

Here's a picture of my started Fifi:

And here's my finished Rusted Root:

See more about them both on my blog:

Thanks!

OH Yeah!

On a happy note I finished Rusted Root and I am thrilled with it! Weird, my sleeves actually poofed, unlike most of the otherse I've seen. Please excuse hubby's photography skills....at least I got him off the recliner to take the pict. I wish it was a bit cooler so I can wear it!

My Rusted Root

Finally, my finished Rusted Root :-)
It's actually a modified Rusted Root knock-off! ... after deciding that I would change the sleeves from puffy to straight, and then realizing that I had the exact same lacy leaf pattern in an old Mon Tricot knitting book, I thought that I could give it a go without the Rusted Root instructions :-)
I used an Aussie 8 ply yarn with 4mm needles, and made a top down raglan with just a bit of side shaping in the body...I didn't want it too tight as I was going for the layered look (the photo with the white shirt). I'm really pleased with the end result, and it feels great to wear ... the black doesn't photograph real well, but the pattern shows up a lot better in 'real life'. I'll definately be making more of these..it's winter here in Adelaide right now, and layers work great with our changeable climate.
Looking forward to the next KAL, Linda :-)

My 2nd Rusted Root

My mom loved my completed Rusted Root so much that I decided to make her one too. I'm farther along than I am in this photo. She's coming to visit tomorrow and I'm about 80% finished now. I definitely have a little work to do today!

Woohoo! I finished Rusted Root too.

I finished my Rusted Root! And I love it! I made it in Knit Picks CotLin. I really like the yarn. It's nice and cool for hot weather and I know linen gets softer with each wash, so that's exciting too!

It was my first top-down shirt, and also my first lace. This was such an enjoyable knit.

As many of you have said, my sleeves are not as poofy as they are in the pattern pics. BUT I am glad! I l look younger than I am so I'm thinking big poofy sleeves wouldn't help me look sophisticated :)

More details on my blog!

Rusted Root is DONE!!

I finished her last night and if I must say so myself I did a grrrrrreat job! I didn't change a thing about the pattern and I like it how it is. The waist shaping isn't the most flattering on me but I can still work it no problem.

Cotton-ease + US7 Susan Bates = Enjoyable knitting experience!

I used a US5 Denise needle for the ribbing and that wasn't so much fun but all in all this was a great top to knit, the lace panel kept it interesting and the stockinette allowed for stress free TV watching.

Presenting Rusted Root!

I finally finished Rusted Root!

Rusted Root!

I used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Perry's Primrose. I am really happy with this sweater. It was my first ever sweater, and I had great fun knitting it. I love how easy and fast the pattern is, even if the lace panel tripped me up in the beginning. More details on my blog.

All done!

My Rusted Root is finished. Weee!

rustedroot2.jpg

I messed with the pattern quite a lot (the biggest mods were replacing the lace with a cable and combining two sizes to keep the sleeves poofy). All the info and more pics here.

Rusted Root Finished!!!

I finally finished Rusted Root...and am wearing it to work today! More details on my blog.

Rusted Root Progress

I have been using Lion Brand Cotton-Ease on US 7s for my Rusted Root and I am impressed. The yarn is very soft, easy to work with and has produced puffy sleeves.

Since this picture was taken I have finished off the sleeves and just finished the waist shaping. I can't to finish it and start stuttin' my stuff in it!!

Another finished Rusted Root!

I'm very happy with how it turned-out!

Like many others, I didn't get super-poofy sleeves, but I'm okay with that. I did make a couple modifications -- I made a size between the XS and S, and added extra waist decreases (and spaced them farther apart).

More pics and details on my blog.

Rusted Root finished and loved much last week.

I finished my Rusted Root over a week ago. It was a really quick knit. I made some changes so that it would suit my preferences. Check out all the dets on my blog.

I am going to be starting on Sahara in the next week or two using some Blue Moon bling around the neckline.

Wearing my new top!

I must say that I'm extremely pleased with the way my rusted root fits. Ok and yeah I still didn't weave in the ends but I will. I finally got a pic today so here it is!

I'm soooo making another one (or two!) of these.

More Rusted Root Progress

rustedrootprogress2.jpg

Neckline is finished, sleeves are finished, decrease rounds are done, now just have to keep plugging away at the mindless stockinette (and weave in a zillion ends, of course). And maybe do some increases to accomodate my giant hips.

I had to do a crazy bindoff to keep the neckline from curling. I don't see how any amount of blocking could keep that thing from curling with a regular bindoff, so I worked in a bunch of decreases and I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY AND CURL NOW, YOU EVIL NECKLINE FROM HELL.

*cough*

Aaaanyway... my Rusted Root is progressing nicely.

Rusted Root Done!!!

Wow what a fast knit. Even having to frog and start over. Here is a pic, I still have to weave in ends and take a pic of it on. But it's done!!! I love it too, it's perfect and I can see myself making more of these. I saw someone do it in red and I loooved it, so that might be the color I choose next time. Next up...Sahara!

Rusted Root progress!

I'm only a bit past the armpits, but so far I'm loving the pattern. It's simple enough to knit while watching TV, reading, etc, but certainly not boring.

I’m a little sad my sleeves aren’t very puffy, but I’m not sure if I care enough to tear way back or perform some major terrifying knitting surgery. Meh.

I'm using my Denises (as you can see by the cable pulling across my boobs there... classy.), which were great for flexibility of cord lengths in the beginning, and now it's so easy to try it on every once in a while. The yarn is Inca Wool - I'm not sure if the color is labeled on the ball band - it's in Russian. It's green! I've been detailing progress on my blog (www.hungryknitter.com), but so far there's not much about Rusted Root there since I just made a virtual move.

Catching up!

Progress! I have a little way yet to go but it's going rather fast now that I'm past the decreasing. I want this to be longer than the one they have in the pic, so still quite a bit longer. I tried it on though to check the fit and make sure I didn't have to frog it again. Ignore the pj's. Anyway, I can't wait to finish I am so excited!

Rusted Root

So after several attempts at CO this project, I've finally gotten in to it. The lace seems easy to me but I keep screwing it up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could I just be having a hard time following it-- I have to read it every time. I don't think that I could possibly memorize all 10 rows of the lace panel. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice for me?
As always, more details on my blog: www.shesacraftyone.blogspot.com

Rusted Root Progress

Slowly but surely, it's coming along. I'm using Cotton Fleece in Terracotta Canyon, which is slightly less orange than it looks in the pictures.

rustedrootprogress.jpg

It fits! It fits!

I'm doing a hybrid of the small and medium, mostly following the instructions for the small, but did the neckline and sleeve increases of the medium so I'd have plenty of poof in the sleeves. I was originally going to do the medium as-is, and I'm glad I didn't, because it would have been huuuuuge on me.

I replaced the lace panel with a banana tree cable, so that I would be able to wear it without a shirt underneath.

Apologies for the, er, rather un-professional photography. Heh.
