Winners!

Edited to Add: Just wanted to mention that I emailed Jenna Adorno (the designer of both Tempting and Tempting II) a week or so ago to let her know that her pattern was selected as the winner of our next knit along and asked her to check in on our site from time to time to answer pattern questions, etc. however I have not yet received a response from her and don't see posts or comments from her here on the SKC site yet. Y'all may want to try to contact her yourselves regarding pattern questions...

I also wanted to mention that TLC Cotton Plus MAY be a good substitute for Tempting II however I've yet to test it on this particular pattern, so PLEASE as always, be sure to do a test swatch before substituting this yarn for this pattern! I was hoping Jenna might be able to offer her advice on using the Cotton Plus yarn for Tempting II so I'll be checking often to see if she's posted anything here.

I'm excited about making this top and have enjoyed seeing all your sexy knits!!!

Well, the official winning pattern for the next KAL is Tempting II! Congratulations!

The Tempting II KAL will begin on July 1st, so start getting your supplies together now! I posted a comment on another entry (but will repeat it here) that an inexpensive substitute for Rowan's Calmer yarn is TLC Cotton Plus. I used the Cotton Plus as a substitute for Calmer for the Nothing But A T-Shirt pattern and it turned out great PLUS it's washable! As always though, be sure to do a gauge swatch for accuracy! Another Sexy Knitter commented that those of you who are going to use the Rowan Calmer for this pattern should consider purchasing an additional skein, as she ran out before she was finished! Good advice!

Other winners tonight are Stacy Spaulding (who won our drawing for the Somewhat Cowl/Orangina knit along) and Ai-ling Lee (who won our drawing for finishing both knit along patterns)! Each of these winners will receive a copy of the new book Sexy Little Knits by Ashley Paige!

Congrats!!!

Question - how do we get added to this blog? So excited to knit Tempting II (which is the one I voted for, yay!).

Now to head to the yarn store to pick a color...

Congrats to all the winners!!

My 40something-with-3-kids abs are not yet ready for Tempting-2, but I just wanted to introduce and say what a huge fan I've become of this site in just a few weeks! Moreso than I would have been at a younger, if trimmer stage of my life - it's only in my decrepit middle age that I've come to realize that it's okay to bare a little cleavage and be proud, even if you don't resemble a supermodel... Such gorgeous patterns, all of them!

I'm so excited for winning one of the prizes!!! It's really made my day/week!!
I'm recovering from surgery at the moment and really need cheering up! So hurray!!!
Bring on the next knitalong!

Any chance for those of us who want to join up, but aren't too sure about the neckline of Tempting II, that you can include a second choice of Sonata Crest of the Wave Tank Top -- I believe it was the second highest in the voting?

Please everyone remember that if you have concearns about a pattern, you can still knit along, just make modifications. Since you aren't buying the sweater in the store, it's all free game. Remember my friend here:
http://knitmentia.blogspot.com/2006/05/tempting-ii.html

She modified the neckline so that it didn't fall off the shoulders, and added some short rows to allow for her very generous bust. If you are afraid it will be too clingy, make a slightly larger size so it won't stretch quite as much. Join the fun! Knit a long!

Sherri -- thanks for more pics of Tempting. But, some of these knitters had the same thoughts I did -- the neckline is hard to pull off unless you adjust it (which my skills might not allow) and endless ribbing can get a little dull to knit.
However, it did win so I'll be interested to see how everyone's turns out. I was just wondering if there could be a second choice. Of course, I can just wait for the next round (or for better knitters to post modification instuctions).
Cheers.

Oooooh now that's something I can sink my needles into. Very gorgeous and sexy indeed.

I randomly came across this blog thanks to the "Next Blog" button. I don't knit (though my sisters do), but this is a pretty interesting blog. It inspired a post on my own blog. Anyways, this is some cool stuff.

Sweet! It's been on my to-knit list forever! What a great opportunity, esp. since I just joined the group. After seeing other remarks about this sweater and complaints about the fit of the neck, it will probably work due to my broad shoulders. I guess that makes up for people asking me if I'm a swimmer/dancer all my life.

Can't wait to see everyone's progress!

Ok....my DH loves this sweater...I didn't vote for it originally, but I like it as well. I am a little worried about the neckline, but maybe I can figure out how to combine T1 and T2....I also like that I can make it for the curvy woman that I am...

My main issue now is what year to use. I can't just go buy the Calmer right now....Any other suggestions??? Something soft but less expensive? Someone said TLC Cotton plus--does that have the same stretch? Or is it more like KnitPicks Shine???

Help!

I think the TLC Cotton Plus has more stretch to it than KnitPicks Shine, but I've never used Calmer so I don't know how it compares to that.

I contacted her a while back too & nothing ... other designers I have contacted have gotten back to me VERY quickly ... I guess she's REALLY busy or something ...

I contacted Jenna Adorno a few months ago and she got right back to me. I think that she is a VERY busy woman with the type of work she does. I am sure she will be in contact with the SKC before too long.

Man, I simply can't seem to write a comment that doesn't sound dumb or grouchy.
Let me just second an additional sweater. I'd look awful in tempting II, no matter how I alter it.
Thank you blog owners. I know you've gotten a couple of comments from me, only to have me delete it and try again.

Knitty Cat - what top are you thinking of doing instead?? Perhaps we could start our own mini-KAL via this site? What about Hopeful (http://www.thisgirlknits.com/tgbb.html)?? Same designer! BUT, you have to buy the pattern, BUT all proceeds go to Cancer Research!!

Hey Gals! Just wanted to request that you set up a separate site to do any "mini knit alongs" (which I think is a great idea, btw) as opposed to posting them on this site -- it would get very confusing very quickly if everybody started posting their own mini knit alongs here, as I'm sure you can imagine. If you need any help setting up a site to start your own mini knit along, please let me know -- I'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

Thanks!!!

Jeanie - I 'just' create SEXY KNITTERS CLUB TOO (http://sexy-knitters-club-too.blogspot.com/), so those of us who want to knit something different can, but I figured with that title we would still be affiliated ... hope that's cool with you!

I have already knit TII. Check my blog for pictures and adjustments I made for an ample bust. Jenna was very good about writing me. She may be dealing with a huge work issue, there are some big changes happening in Microsoft and she has survived, but in a new position. I strongly suggest anyone knitting TII plan to alter the neckline unless they are very slender with few curves. Jenna says many have changed the neckline to k3tog as I did. I knit mine in KnitPicks Shine Sport weight. I also added short rows.

Krasser IQ Test

Hi zusammen

Pardon my kibitzing, I haven't joined this group (although why I haven't, I'm not sure!), but I wanted to offer up an alternative to Calmer. Nashua Cilantro is very similar and gives you some additional colors (generally brighter than the Calmer color range). And it's slightly less expensive per yard--$7.95/136yds. (also, the yarn requirements for most sizes wouldn't qualify for WEBS 20% discount, but if you needed something else...Not that I'm shilling for WEBS).

I've seen the yarn in person and it's not quite as soft as Calmer, but it's very nice and it's quite springy like Calmer.

I would like to join but not sure how I go about it. Please let me know.

I think I already joined?! Almost waited to looooong before order yarn but it arrived on Wednesday. Now to dig through gram's needles for the correct size (-2 as I knit quite loose) and get a swatch swatched quickly. My plan is to make TII according to the pattern, but LONGER. I'm so tired of seeing pudgie bellies hanging out!!!
