I'm not KAL'ing for Sahara right now but I think I might either:
a) make one later this summer as a present for me for losing another 10 pounds
or
b) Make one for my sister
Tilli Thomas yarns are nice and all....but I am budget knitter (plus I'm not a huge fan of the non-consumer-friendly business) so I'm looking to substitute. Which brings me back to my question....
What yarn are you useing for your Sahara and how do you like it?
Thanks!!

I'm using Handmaiden's Great Big Sea yarn for my Sahara and I absolutely love it. I think it is the nicest yarn I've used so far! It's not for the budget minded though. You might want to look at KnitPicks Shine worsted which is a cotton blend. I've heard nice things about that yarn. I've used Classic Elite's Premier which is very similar and I simply love that yarn. It is extremely soft and easy to work with. Sahara is a great pattern to work with.
kozy: Great Big Sea? Hahahahahahaa! How cute; I'd almost use that for the name alone!
I'm using Silky Tweed, knit slightly tighter than recommended by the label. It's a sportweight, but you can just knit a few sizes up so that it ends up the right size. It's great, very reasonably priced yarn.
I'm using Rowan Summer Tweed. It's 70% silk, 30% cotton and I love it. Soft, wonderful texture and smells great. I've crocheted with it before but this is the first time to knit. It can still be a bit pricey but you can get it quite a bit cheaper on ebay with Cucumber Patch or Janette's Rare Yarns. Both are great sellers.
Goshen by Valley yarns from Webs....in purple haze. I really like this yarn! and $3.99 a skein
I am using Lion Brand Microspun. Definitely works for a budget! This yarn wears well - I have knit TONS of baby hats with it. It wears well, and I really like the weight, drape, and sheen of this yarn. I will have to take progress photos to show you, but it's working out just fine and I've picked up to knit the fronts now. Gonna work on it more during Sex in the City in about 10 minutes!!!
Art Yarns Regal Silk and Beaded Silk
Shibu, a 90 silk/10 rayon blend and so far, I'm loving it.
