knitpicks shine worsted for tempting ii?

is this yarn stretchy enough? i know lots of you used it for picovoli, and it looked so pretty and it's so inexpensive!

I'd generally say no only because I don't think that it has enough stretch. The new cotton/merino blend might. You might also try Elann for a worsted weight. I just bought some Esprit yarn from them that's a cotton/elastic blend that might be good. (I'm going to use mine for another project though). They have lots of pretty colors.

Elann Esprit is probably even more stretchy than Calmer - so if you use that, I'd probably make a slightly smaller size than I normally would.

Shine is pretty inexpensive, but doesn't have a lot of yardage. So, I'll be making the 36 bust Tempting II which is 885 yds of yarn. I'd need 12 skeins of Shine and 5 skeins of Calmer. The Shine is $30 and I've found Calmer for $42.50 and I've decided just to go with the Calmer. I saw one made out of Shine somewhere and it looked fine though I think she had to use size 5 needles. Also, if you think there's another project you could use the Calmer on I've seen bags of it on eBay for $60 which would make the sweater only $30. Just some suggestions!

i haven't seen calmer on ebay or anywhere else for much less than $10 per ball, up to $12 per ball. i'd love to find it cheaper than that--care to share a source??

Here is a place in the UK where it is a bit cheaper, $8.82 a ball.

Don't know about the shipping though, I've never ordered from them.

This ebay seller http://stores.ebay.com/Cucumberpatch-UK has Calmer for as low as $8.50 and the shipping doesn't seem to bad either. I just thought last night too, that if you could buy a bag and there are two 5 ball people, it would probably be cheaper to get the bag and split it.

I ordered Calmer from Cucumberpatch UK for another project I did (the "Soul" strapless cabled tank from the Calmer Collection) and I had a good experience. I paid about $8.50 and I think I had my yarn in about a week from the UK.

I'm thinking that the original version of Shine (not the new worsted weight) would be more appropriate for this top... Just my two cents worth. Still not sure about the stretchiness though.

You may want to look into Berroco Touche which is really similar to knitpicks shine. I've used it before, it's rather springy, and it has a gauge similar to what's needed for Tempting II.
