Wicked Yarn Shortage!

Yes, I've run out of yarn for my Wicked! And not just ANY yarn, but hand dyed yarn from Hill Country Yarns (from my stash). Their yarns aren't dyelotted as they typically dye up only enough for each individual order, so we'll see how closely another skein will match. Fortunately, even if there's a slight difference in the intensity of the color it shouldn't make too much of a difference, as I only lack a few more rows of seed stitch at the bottom of the sweater as well as casting off for one sleeve. SO CLOSE! I ran out of yarn because I decided to lengthen the body somewhat but didn't realize I'd use up as much yarn as I did. I was weighing my yarn at each stage of the sweater hoping that I'd have enough to finish but alas.... Oh and for those of you who are interested, using the Merino Silk worsted weight that I used, the pocket used approximately 8/10 of an ounce (or about 50 yards of yarn) -- your mileage may vary. I debated whether or not I should rip out the bottom of the sweater and shorten the stockinette stitch (as opposed to purchasing an additional skein of yarn), but that would entail removing the pocket, etc. etc. Besides, I'm really happy with the longer length and wouldn't want to lose that. I don't expect to receive my additional yarn for a week or so, so for now my Wicked is waiting in the wings to be finished. In this pic, it obviously is unfinished and unblocked but I'm pretty sure blocking will help straighten out my side pocket seems a bit. They're not bad, just a little wonky. Another note regarding sizing, I'm usually about a size 4 and I made the second to the smallest size. The fit is perfect (not too big and not too snug), and the neckline (that I was concerned about earlier) is laying exactly as I was hoping it would lay even before it's been blocked. I'm pretty sure that adding the ribbing to the sleeves helps pull the neckline back into its correct position. I love this pattern and am already trying to figure out how to make another one in a chunky weight yarn. Zephyr Gals, have you run any calculations for a chunky weight version of Wicked? Maybe just knitting one size down would do the trick. Talk about a wicked quick knit!

I had to buy an extra skein for mine to, but I think it was well worth it! I love the pocket and how it drapes. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the outcome. I have pics of mine on my blog.

You look great in your Wicked! Thanks for the info on sizing, I was starting to worry mine might be too large, but I'm similar in size to you and I'm knitting second to smallest size, so cross my fingers!

hello from paris

i do love it so much more than the shorter version. the pockets were bothering me a lot in the original version, not really my kind of "sexy", but on this one they seem to work fine and not be overwhelming.
