New here, and Wicked question

Hi everyone, I'm a new blogger and KAL participant. I saw Wicked and just had to join in. Here's my question; I have this yarn in my stash, Lane Borgosesia Merinos Extra Fine, and I think it would be great for the lace weight version. I am confused because the pattern says to knit the neck band with size 7 needles and switch to size 4 for the body. Why would you do this? Won't the neck be all loose and baggy? Has anyone else made this in lace weight? Got picks? I have enough Patons merino to make the worsted weight version, maybe I should do that instead? Help!

I think that the instructions call for a worsted weight yarn for the collar even though you'd use lace-weight for the rest of the body. Hmmmm....My pattern isn't with me now, so I'll have to check later

I checked the pattern and mary_me_a_little is right. You use a worsted weight for the collar with the size 7 needles, and switch to the lace weight yarn and smaller size needles for the body. Good luck!

I agree with the previous two ladies - this is actually what pushed me over the edge to knitting this in worsted weight allover instead. I couldn't figure out what two yarns I could use from my stash, one in DK and one in worsted, that would go together!

You could use the thinner yarn doubled (or tripled) for the collar...?

I *really* like the anonymous' idea of doubling the same yarn for the collar! I may have to a lace-weight version like that now.

oops, I didn't see the part about using worsted. I think I do have enough yarn to double it up though. Great idea, thanks!
