Quick Update

This is just a reminder that the official "kick-off" to the knit along is tomorrow, January 1st. BUT... I still don't have my yarn yet and probably won't get it 'till later this week, so I won't be starting tomorrow :-( For those of you who are starting or who have already started, please be sure to post lots of pics for the others to see your progress.

*Sigh* I want to join the KAL but don't know if it's in the cards

Ok, here's my deal. I really want to join the KAL, because I love the pattern, BUT I'm currently pregnant (due in march). Yes you can be massively pregnant and still sexy, at least my husband thinks so.

This means that I can't get exact measurements for the sweater (I could guestimate) and won't be able to actually wear it until mid March. I don't know if it's worth making the sweater before my gigantic stomach disapears. I can't even post an after pic for you guys.

What do you all think? Is it worth guestimating?

i've officially joined the kal!

i'm looking forward to the kal, i love the pattern and i've ordered the yarn. after much researching i settled on endless summer luna in burnished clay, i love the colors of that yarn. i may get a late start since i just ordered the yarn but more problematic is i'm currently wearing my wrist support on my left wrist...i think i'm working on a case of carpal tunnel... and i cut my index finger on my right hand on a very sharp object and have that bandaged...i probably should have gotten a stitch but that is another story...i'll try to catch up! looking forward to hearing from everyone as we get started. later...gay

Has Anyone Started Yet?

I am not sure how these KALs work since this is my first one. I just wondered if anyone started yet? And if you did, could you answer two questions for me on the pattern for me? I so far cast on, knit the yoke part and just placed markers for the raglan seams. Now I go to the increase rounds.

Does a round mean one round of stockinette stitch (one knit row and one purl row)? The purl row is never mentioned so I am just assuming since the pattern is in stockinette to knit a full round.

Then after you are done with these increase rounds, there are these directions which I do not understand at all: It says: ALL SIZES: work 1 round even: 284 (308,336, 364) sts on the needle - 78(84,90,98) sts for front and back, 64(70,78,84) sts for sleeves.
I just do not understand this sentence at all. I get the sizes in the parentheses part. And I understand it means to work a complete round, but the rest I do not understand..amount of stitches, front, back and sleeves...

I am also sorry if it is too early to ask questions. But I am sick at home with the flu and a cold and feel like knitting this! I am reading this now and wondering if it is too hard of a pattern for me!!!!!! If I am supposed to wait, I can work on something else, no problem.

Happy New Year everyone!

Lisa

Hey Y'all!

I am a Texan (for those of you who don't already know) so I can get away with the above title ;-)

How is everybody? I hope that each and every one of you sexy knitters had a wonderful Christmas and/or Chanukah. I came from a "mixed marriage" (my mother's Jewish and my father's Catholic) so I got to celebrate both holidays growing up, and this year my mother (Glamaw) gave my kids Chanukah gelt so they too get the benefit of knowing (celebrating and understanding) both holidays.

Anyway, I am so excited about the upcoming KAL but I'm even more excited that we met our goal of 100 members by the time we started our first KAL. As of today, we have 101 members!!! Woohoo! Way to go Sexy Knitters!

Okay, so let's talk "knit along". My yarn (shine) has not yet arrived from KnitPicks. Evidently something happened to my first order and I had to order again, but I'm still pretty sure that it will be here by Monday (or early next week for sure). I'm very excited about beginning Picovoli and am glad to see that so many of you are planning on participating in the KAL. Which brings me to my next point -- I need the names of all Picovoli KAL participants so that I can add a new KAL members list to the side bar and so that I can enter all the names into drawing (if we should decide to have one, which I'm pretty sure we will -- I have to go and look at the SKC "account" and will get back with y'all on that one). Probably the best way for me to know and keep track of all the KAL members is for each one of you to leave me a comment in reply to this post (leaving the info in a brand new post may not be as good as replying to this post, as I don't receive email notifications of new posts, but do receive email notifications of replies, but we'll do our best to get everybody added to the KAL list regardless). If you've already commented that you'll be joining the KAL, please do so again by replying to this post for me so that I have an "official" record of it ;-)

Knit on Sexy Knitters!

Look what came in the mail today!

I got my KnitPicks Shine in Orchid (6 balls... just in case!) and a shiny new Addi Turbo needle in the mail today. I have a few other projects going, but I'm very excited about starting Picovoli. I didn't want to buy two new circular needles, so I got the 24" size (the 16" wasn't available from KnitPicks -- hopefully it will work!
Happy New Year and Happy KAL to all the Sexy Knitters out there!
Love, Zarah

A New Year a New Project

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and/or Hanukkah. Ours was lovely and we're happy to be home!

I can't wait to start knitting Picovoli. I still havent decided on the yarn. I'm going to destash on this project, but I can't decide between Rowan Wool Cotton in Rich (red) or Rowan Cashsoft dk in Poison (dark purple). I think either would work. Any thoughts on which would be better? I'm thinking of modifying the pattern slightly and maybe doing 3/4 sleeves and adding a narrow ribbing to the collar and hemlines.

Happy New Year!

Hello!

This is my first post here but I've been a member for quite awhile. I'm very excited because I just ordered Shine from Knit Picks for the KAL. It probably won't get here before the start of it, but it was a last minute decision. I was going to skip the KAL because while I love the pattern I wanted to get my winter stuff done first (currently working on Tubey from Knity) & save it for spring or summer project but decided I had to participate in my very first KAL. So I might be starting a little late.

Anyway I'm very pleased to be here!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas y'all. I am in San Diego. Boy, it's pretty out here. We went to the beach on Christmas day. My "brave" brother in law actually went into the ocean just so he could say he did it.

I hope everyone has a peaceful uneventful holiday this year, and can spend some time knitting.

Merry CHRISTmas to all!

Happy Holidays!

Just wanted to wish EVERYONE a great holiday!

Hi all!

Thanks for having me along on this KAL! This blog is such a great idea!!

I'm really excited about the Picovoli and I'm ordering Shine in Orchid or Cream from Knitpicks. It's a debate I'm having with myself really. Knit something striking that I'll love, or knit it in cream that will go with anything. Decisions decisions!!

Either way, I can't wait to get started, and I look forward to getting to know you all!

I got my yarn from Knitpicks!

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I received the yarn I am going to use for Picovoli and the needles. I really like the color I picked out. It is the violet Shine from knitpicks. I read the pattern and decided to try knitting the swatch. This is my first knitted project that has to really fit, so I knew I had to do the gauge swatch! I once knit a sweater 15 years ago, but that doesn't count. Anyhow, the gauge of the swatch came out PERFECTLY, thankfully, so I don't have to worry about that step.

I am not sure about the pattern yet though so I will wait a bit until others on here get started. I have never done a KAL so I am not sure how this works. Will others post details on how they are coming along and about the pattern when we start??

I am ready to go!! But I have other things to work on too until January so no problem waiting. I am learning how to spin on a handspindle and I have to say it is very fun and kind of addicting!!

Wow!

Hey Gals! Can you believe that we are up to 94 members already? And I just sent out two more invitations! I'm thinking we'll make our goal of 100 members by the time we start our first KAL! How exciting!

I also wanted to show off my latest FO.

I call it Brilliantina -- it's a shimmery version of Orangina. I'm posting a pic of it here because Orangina came so close to winning the last KAL vote and I'm thinking that it will be a strong contender for the next KAL and wanted y'all to see a variation of it.

More pics can be seen on my blog. This is my second time to make Orangina and I actually have a third version (called Bambooina) on the needles. I've put that project on hold however just in case Orangina wins the next KAL vote and will finish it then.

So keep up the good work spreading the news about the Sexy Knitters Club, and thanks to all of you who are posting about the upcoming Picovoli KAL. I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited and can't wait to start it!

Knit On Sexy Knitters!

hi fellow sexy knitters!

i wasn't going to join the KAL but have decided after knitting teva durham's ballet top that i think i will! the ballet top shaping drove me crazy and i ripped and knit it three times...still don't like it so i think i'll try the KAL pattern, the shaping looks nicer! i've copied the pattern and plan to shop for the yarn at my local wonderful yarn store as soon as i finish my last xmas project!!! the yarn will most definatly be cotton, i'm a menopausal sexy knitter and can't wear anything but!!! later...gay

Hi everybody!

I am very excited to officially be a Sexy Knitter. I have been knitting for a couple of years now and I am an advanced beginner. I'm really really good at making scarves, I have also made a hat and a purse, I am almost finished a poncho and another scarf, and I am about to start a felted purse (I have never felted before, I am excited). I'm a bit of a slow knitter, it takes me forever to finish ANYTHING - that poncho I mentioned? Yeah....it was supposed to be my cute summer evening poncho, but now it will be next summer's poncho. I am young and fun and thrilled to be a part of this fabulous group of people. I am toying with the idea of joining the KAL, but a two month timeline makes me a little nervous. We'll see how my current WIPs come along before I commit. Happy Knitting!

I'm new

Hi All,

I am so excited to be on this blog. I just learned how to knit about a year and a half ago and I've been addicted ever since. Knitting is such a stress reliever to me. I've found as I've looked at different patterns that I don't like half of them because they are "matronly" and I'm young and want to knit young things. One of my favorite sites is White Lies Designs. I love their patterns.
I'm looking forward to sharing ideas and info with everyone.

A change of heart

Ok - I've changed my mind. I was going to sit this one out. I wasn't going to knit the Picovoli. But I keep looking at it, and thinking about it. And comparing it to other things I want to knit. I'm slowly becoming obsessed with this sweater. And my closet is deffinately lacking anything like it. So I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it. I'll probably do it in the specified Debbie Bliss yarn because it's my very first sweater and I don't want to mess around with gauge. My first sweater - wow that's kinda scary.

Hola!

Hey all! Very excited to begin on this project, but I think I'm gonna wait to order the yarn until after our Christmas trip to Georgia. I will definitely be visiting some yarn stores while there so I'll be on the lookout for some good yarns (probably many good yarns he he). I've looked at the Knit Picks Shine and none of the colors really interest me. What do you think of the Endless Summer Collection Luna at Elann? Too shiny?
The two other Endless Summer yarns: Connemara and Lara also look like candidates. So many of you have already mentioned Shine though it seems to be a good sub. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Question about cotton yarn

Hi, everybody!

I cheched my stash and I think I have the yarn (yay!). It's a Portuguese 100% soft cotton (non-mercerized) yarn, variegated in blue and pink (not baby-blue and pink, though), the suggested gauge is similar and I have 550 meters (600 yards). I hope it's a good choice for the pattern. I would make a swatch right away, but I already have too many WIPs for my time, so I will not start yet.

Anyway, is someone using a 100% cotton yarn? What are your thoughts on it?

It's been great to know so many sexy knitters (one of them a bellydancer... I'm impressed!)

And, dear ones who took the "Quizilla Princess Test" in October or November: I am a Traditional Princess, too! I must admit I am traditional, I like needles and have very long brown hair...

Hello everyone!

I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a stay-at-home mom of two and I'm completely obsessed with knitting. I've mostly been knitting projects for the kids and Christmas gifts so I'm looking forward to making something sexy for myself! I'm so excited about making Picovoli and plan on using Knit Picks Shine but I'm not sure what color yet, I'll probably end up using Cream.

I look foward to getting to know you all better!

I just joined!

Hello lovely ladies, (there are no men yet, right?)

This is my first KAL, and I must say I am excited and a little nervous: I take forever to finish any project, and I have never made a garment I could wear (besides the socks that I have been working on 4EVER), and I have never blogged before - this is a whole new world! I do intend to keep up and finish this project in the two months allotted, you all will motivate me.

I am quite sexy, an avid "advanced beginner" knitter, an earth goddess, an excellent but infrequent cook, an irrepressible optimist, a frequent knitblog lurker, and a certifiable yarnaholic! One of my best days was when I heard that "whoever dies with the biggest stash wins". I might actually win!

I learned of the SKC yesterday by following a link on Grumperina's blog (that girl is amazing!), and since then I've been thinking about this project non-stop. I'll probably make the Picovoli in the KnitPicks Shine - I forget the color name - it's like a raspberry or cranberry or something.

I just haven't been able to order it until I figure out what else to buy to get up to $30 for free shipping - should I buy enough yarn to make two? Should I buy more sock yarn? (I already have enough to make 5 more pair after I finish the current SIPs) Should I just suck it up and pay the shipping? Has anyone knit with the Debbie Bliss Cathay? I've got one more local place to check for a comparable yarn before I make a final decision - I really prefer to buy yarn that I've touched with my own two hands.

I am very happy to be a new member of this group and I look forward to our future adventures together. Thanks for having me!

Pic Size

Hey Gals! I quick but important message about adding pics to your posts. Please try to keep your pic sizes at about 3 to 4 inches in width or it throws off our sidebar. I've been trying to reduce the sizes of the pics that are too wide, but it would be much easier if you could try to reduce the pic sizes yourselves either prior to posting or during posting.

Thanks a bunch!

Jeanie

Knit Picks Shine? Oh, and Hello!

Hi there! My name is also Jessica. I've only been a knitter for about a year, but have immersed myself in it totally. I'm also an ADD knitter, which means I have about 7 projects going at any given time. Right now I'm working on a sampler afghan, a cardigan, a pair of felted clogs, a shapely tee, and a teddy bear. *lol* You can check out my progress at Ariadne's Thread.

Now, onto the KAL. I was thinking of using Knitpicks Shine for this pattern, but have never used it before. The gauge doesn't quite match the pattern's, but it is close enough to make it work with different sized needles, if need be.

Has anyone used this yarn before? Is it easy to work with? Does it produce a nice final result?

ETA: Duh. I see that the Jessica below me used Shine for this pattern. It looks great in the pics, so I'm off to order some!

Newbie

Hi everybody,

My name's Jessica. I'm a new member, and pleased to be here.

I'm a knitter, geek, and bellydancer, and damn sexy in all three respects, if I do say so myself. :)

I'm not actually working on Picovoli, so I can't formally join the knit-along. However, I've made two Tivolis in KnitPicks Shine before it was published as Picovoli. I really liked that pattern: body-skimming, but not showing a lot of flesh. It really highlights the collarbone, which is a very sexy in a modest and feminine way. Since I did this before the full size range available, I had to resize it for myself and my mom. I didn't do a great job of my own: I didn't believe Grumperina when she suggested two inches of negative ease, and so mine was too loose. However, it still looks nice. The looseness creates a nice drape in the back:

I just blocked Momvoli, for which I did use Grumperina's ease suggestions, and it was much better:

(at the try-on point, back in September)

(on the blocking board beside Soleil, which I also made of Shine)

I'm working on another project, which is decidedly sexy: Hopeful by Jenna Adorno:

(image hotlinked from Jenna's site)
I'm almost to the bust-line (bottom-up):

I'm also working on the Hush-Hush chemise from the Sex & the Knitty issue of Knitty:

This is a project I work on a few rows at a time, between other projects. I have a hard time making progress on this one, since it moves so slowly and isn't terribly interesting, outside the lace sections. My sister has also asked for a tank top version of this. That may or may not happen, although I have enought yarn. :)

Finally, high on my knitting wishlist is Tubey from the latest issue of Knitty:

(hotlinked from the Knitty site)
I adore the sweetheard neckline. I had a jersey knit top with that shape, and it was incredibly flattering. However, it was too short-waisted, so I never felt good in it. I am very excited about this pattern. Like Picovoli, Tubey exposes a lot of chest without showing a speck of cleavage. My cousin-in-law and cousin-in-law-in-law gave me a gift certificate to Kpixie, which I'll use to buy some Aurora 8 for this project. I just love that yarn!

wooo hooo!

i am so excited! i was hoping that this would win. i am dying to make it :) i will be using shine from knitpicks.com, in a pretty blue or pink? not sure??? think i may have to take a vote on my blog!

help me put the button on my site

Is there code somewhere that I can copy and paste? I am new at this blogging thang.

Picovoli in progress!

OK, so I cheated. I was actually already working on this - because I have psychic powers and new you would choose it. ;)

I don't have any pictures of my progress at the moment, but my first Tivoli is in my blog here:

http://stariel.blogspot.com/2005/07/finally-tivoli-pic.html

Ignore me looking stupid ;)

I love this pattern - a great T-shirt/tank.

yarn time

Hi everyone, I'm Sarah. While I didn't vote for picovoli, I think I'll join in on the knitalong! It's summer here (in NZ) so I need some good summer knitting. I think I'll knit it without the picot edges, but I'm not sure yet.

My one complaint is that it uses size 4 needles, and my Denise set starts at size 5. I'm not a particularly tight knitter so I know I won't get gauge with the 5s. So that means I have to buy two new circs.

As for yarn, I'm thinking of using Heirloom Breeze, a cotton/wool/lycra blend, from here: http://www.ozeyarn.com/category5_1.htm. I just don't know what colour yet!

So when's the official kick-off date?

Wednesday, December 07, 2005

Yeah for Picovoli!

I think I am going to make this in the VIOLET color of Knitpicks Shine. It is something a bit different than I usually do but I think it will be pretty flattering and also perfect for Arizona weather! I am excited because I wanted to make a shirt or t-shirt type pattern next!

On voting for next KALs, I would like to nominate a few things from White Lies Designs. She specializes in vintage knits and the sizes go from small to very large. Not everything on the site is sexy, but I do love these knitted fishnet stockings that come in a kit using black, white or hot pink yarn! They are called "Monica's Lace Stockings."

I also like some of the patterns from Blue Sky which I both think are a bit curvy sexy. And if you haven't knitted with their yarn, it is a real treat. IT IS SO SOFT! I have made a few of their patterns and they are great! I really like this ribbed pullover pattern.

Lisa

PS. Can someone who is more computer literate than I tell me if if the way I posted these images is ok? I linked them to their websites instead of copying the images onto my own server. Is that what they call stealing bandwidth? I would hate to be a thief! LOL. But honestly I am so new to this. I thought it was ok in this case since they are selling these things but if not, someone let me know and I will do it the other way which takes much longer!

Hi y'all!

What a good idea this is. I am looking forward to visiting all the sites listed and hope to see some y'all visiting me on The Red Sofa
Right this minute I am working on the second sleeve for my niece's American Girl Doll. Come on over and see it.

Hi from Portugal!

Hi. My name is TGZ (not my real name, it's my knitblogger alias!) and I'm a Sexy Knitter! ("Hello, TGZ!")

My knitting blog is Knitting through life (edited: previously the link was wrong!) and I'm writing from Portugal (yes, from the other side of the ocean!) Am I the first European member of the club? If there are other European gals, I would like to know!

I voted for Deciduous, though I must admit it was hard to decide. I like several of the patterns you suggested in the big voting (December 1st), and I was undecided between Deciduous (it's so different! and it seems to be a good fit for small bust girls like me) and Tivoli/Picovoli (so simple, yet feminine, and good to fit a whole variety of body types). So, I am happy that Picovoli won. I already intended to knit one Picovoli some day, so I will go look through my stash.

Just one more thing: Why did I join? Because I think I'm sexy, and because knitting is sexy. I'm of the Venus de Milo body shape (I'm not advertising their book, I just like their classification of body types), which means I have a small upper body, a narrow waist, and big, motherly hips. I learned to like my body, and when you like your body, you become sexy. I also like to experience things sensually. Sensuality is very misunderstood these days. I like to taste food slowly, to distinguish the several flavours combined. I like to cook myself, and choose what spices to use by their smell. I like to see more sharply after a rainy day, or to stop and hear the small sounds. I like to smell pine trees after a rain. I like to hear the small variations of tone in a friend's voice. And I like to knit.

And why is knitting sensual? Because we fondle a soft skein of merino, we run the yarn through our fingers, we sometimes smell it, we let it wrap our body, we say that some yarns are next-to-the-skin soft, we work it with our hands.

Pleased to meet you!

Picovoli!

I am so happy it won!

It was on my list, I have the yarn, I am ready to go!

And there is a KAL to browse.

Knit Along Winner

Well, it's official ladies. We have a winner for our very first Sexy Knitters Club Knit Along. And the winner is........ (drum roll please!)........ Picovoli!

Thank you to all who voted (60 of you!) and for sharing your opinions about the various nominated patterns. I'd have been happy knitting any of the 5 in our run-off poll, and I'm super excited to start with Picovoli. So. Please use this time to get your yarn and supplies together before the knit along kicks off on January 1st. The pattern for Picovoli is free and can be found here on MagKnits. I love the way this top is shown dressed up and shown dressed down. I also like that long sleeves can be added if desired. Lots of important pattern info is also found on Kathy's website and I highly recommend that you read this prior to beginning the pattern.

I'll have to check the SKC Cafepress account to see if we have enough funds to offer a prize (probably just a random drawing) and I'll let y'all know about this later.

The KAL will run 2 months and we'll begin taking nominations for the next KAL in about a month or so. The sidebar will be updated soon, so your patience is appreciated! Oh, and be sure to let us know which yarns you all plan to use for this pattern -- that's my favorite part of KAL's, seeing what yarns each member decides to use and how each yarn responds to the pattern!

If I've left anything out, please be sure to let me know!

Until then, knit on sexy knitters!

Edited to add: I've had several members ask me if the knit alongs are required and they most definitely aren't -- I actually found it cute that y'all would even ask this ;-) Of course, we'd love to have as many participate in each knit along as possible, but if you just don't want to that's perfectly okay. I will need the name of each person who decides to participate though so that I can add your name to our KAL list and so that you will be included in our prize drawing(s) (should we have any), and also so that I can monitor your progress and mention you in our KAL updates.

I'd also like to mention that I hope all of our members will try this pattern. I think it's a pattern that will compliment any and all body shapes and sizes. It's sexy, yet modest (you know, isn't cut down to the belly button or anything, and can be worn with a bra!) and most of all versatile. Okay, enough with the promotional part of the post already!

Remember also that we won't be taking any new nominations for the next KAL for at least another month or so, so while it's great for you to post about sexy patterns, we won't officially be taking the nominations until we announce it.

And lastly, I've received several emails from knitters asking me if it's too late to join the SKC. It's NEVER going to be too late to join the club, so please be sure to let your friends know this. The SKC will be an ongoing blog with new and exciting information all the time (or until there's no longer anything sexy to blog about, which I seriously doubt will happen!).

Greetings from Jersey!

Hi all - my name is Jody. I'm new to SKC and I'm very excited to be here. I'm 30, and I've been knitting for about a year. Check out my blog for more about me & what I'm up to.

I'm so upset that I missed the whole nomination thing for the KAL. I think I'm going to have to sit this one out, I'm deffinatley a sexy knitter but I'm more the full busted curvey kind of sexy and I just don't think any of the top five will flatter my body type. And I am so not knitting my very first big project for someone else (so selfish I know- but I've been at it a year and all I have to show for my efforts is a pair of socks!)

At anyrate, it's a pleasure to "meet" you all and look forward to getting to know you.
Ciao for now!
Jody
Hey, I liked the Alene Camisole and that's what I voted for the first time. But in the next group I voted for Honeymoon Cami. The others just don't seem like anything I would wear or really want to make right now.

Hi from Arizona

Hi!

I am happy to be part of this club! My name is Lisa and I live in Arizona. You can read my new blog at http://arizonayarnobsession.blogspot.com and please feel free to post a comment!

I am a little worried about this first KAL because I am a big busted sexy knitter and I would say that out of all of these patterns only Picovoli would fit my bust or look good on me! So I hope I don't have to sit the first one out (not to influence anyone!! LOL). And I am glad this is the winning pattern so far. I also liked that the pattern says you can use knit picks yarns since I just spent a bundle at the yarn store today!!

I wish I would have been here at the initial submissions. I think it is good to remember sexy knitters come in all sizes and to try to watch that while we pick out a pattern, like the person who posted she was flat busted, I am the opposite and it is always so frustrating when I see a cute pattern and it doesn't come in my size!!

Nice to be here!!

Lisa

Need to be swayed

Hi everyone! My name is Vanessa. I am ready to vote on the new pole, well almost. I would love to hear some feed back on the two patterns I really like so I can make a "real" decision. Note: I have never made an actual shirt/sweater or anything that has to actually "fit" other than a hat thus far in my knitting career.
Can some one give me some pro/cons of knitting Orangina vs. Deciduous or Deciduous vs. Orangina? Thanks gang... looking forward to participating in my first KAL!
Stay Sexy~

Honeymoon Cami

Hi everybody, I'm Zarah. The Honeymoon Cami is the only one of the five finalist patterns that I've knitted before, so I figured I would throw in my two cents. I really liked the pattern... until I got to the neckline. I looks really good on Julia, the designer, as you can see if you look at the pictures on knitty.com. But I am flat-chested and that sucker is cut really low. I know we're the sexy knitters and all, but part of being sexy is looking good in your clothes -- and tops cut that low just don't look good on everyone. Just my opinion. =)

Run Off Vote

Good morning ladies! Well, we certainly had a good "showing" at the polls! 58 people voted!

As many of you already know, it's been suggested that we have a run off vote between several of the highest "scoring" patterns. I think this is a great idea and many of you have "seconded" this "motion" ;-) (Don't we sound official around here today???).

We had 3 days of "regular" voting and now we'll begin another 3 days of "run off" voting between the top 5 patterns. Remember to let other members know why you favor a particular pattern over another (aka campaigning) because you may know something about a pattern that we don't and it might help us make a better decision when placing our votes. I know that the previous "campaigning" helped me when I voted and I appreciate the info very much! It's nice to see that we "Sexy Knitters" have such great taste when it comes to voting for a pattern for our first KAL, as all 5 of the run-off patterns are winners in my book! I have to admit though... y'all had me scared with some of those nominations ;-)

So, here's the new poll. Voting will end at midnight Tuesday and the winner will be announced Wednesday! Remember, this is all just for fun, so if your pattern doesn't win... just re-nominate it for the next KAL!

Working links for Kathy's and Shetha's blog

Picovoli sleeves: FYI

Kathy has already said as much as she's going to say about adding long sleeves to Picovoli. (click on link at top of page)

Shetha has successfully added long sleeves to the sweater by using the just-winging-it method.

ETA: there are links in the text above but the linked text isn't showing up as a different color (at least not on my computer.) If you can't see the links, click randomly on the words, until something happens. :-)

Okay, I'll break some voting silence.

Well I've already started badly. I've been informed my title makes it sound as though I plan to "break wind in a voting booth".

Anyway, I'm Sarah, nice to meet all of you.

I was just thinking that maybe it would be a good idea after everyone votes to do a little run off between the top 3-5 patterns. That way those that were the only ones to vote for a certain pattern get another chance. Like, say you were the one person who voted for Red Hot (I have no idea who voted for it I'm just using it as an example) and a couple days later you go look at the votes and see that there are a few way out in front. You like say, Orangina better than the one in first and if you had known that Red Hot was going to only get your vote you'd have voted for Orangina. If all the people who voted for a pattern with only one or two votes suddenly had their votes back and all voted for Honeymoon Cami that one would be way out in front. See what I mean?

Anyway, blah blah blah. I'm done now.

The Voting Continues

Well the voting is going well, but I must say that you all are the quietest group of voters I've ever seen! Not a single post or comment since the voting officially started (except for Jenn's introduction -- Hi Jenn!). Of course quiet's not a bad thing, but this is your chance to campaign for your favorite pattern if you're so inclined. Let us know why you prefer one pattern over another, what the pro's and con's are, and why we should vote for your favorite! Give us the scoop! It's okay! We don't mind!!!

Last I checked, Picovoli was in the lead. I like Picovoli a lot, but I'm curious... can long sleeves be added on to this pattern easily? It looks like they could, but does anybody know for sure? Should we email Kathy to find out?

I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Jennifer or Jenn. I'm new to this club :). I am 20, will be 21 in March. I am in college and majoring in Networking computers. I graduate in May. One more semester, yay! I have a wonderful boyfriend and his name is Travis. We have been dating over a year now. It was a year in October. We are already talking engagement. I have been knitting for a couple of years. I crochet too and have done that since I was little. I learned how to knit from my Mom and then just took off with it. I have a blog...www.shamrockcrafts.blogspot.com. Here is a link to a post where I just posted some FO that I finished for Christmas gifts. :)

Fun to be here everyone!

Voting Day!

Good morning Ladies!!! Well, today's the day! Time to vote for your favorite pattern (see nomination list on the right for pics of each) for the Sexy Knitters Club FIRST Knit Along!

First, let me say that both blogpoll.com and freeblogpoll.com seem to be having some server problems this morning and they've not yet been able to generate the code for me to enter the poll onto our site. I'll keep trying throughout the day to see if the problem is resolved so that we can actually VOTE! But until then, please know that I'm working on it.

Second, I need to let y'all know that I had to make an executive decision (which I totally hated doing, but someone had to do it). Seems that both blogpoll.com and freeblogpoll.com only allow 20 nominations on their polls and we had 26. I'm sorry that I didn't realize this until this morning :-( I had to decide which 6 to leave off the poll which wasn't easy and I apologize if anybody's nomination was omitted -- please know that your nomination will stay on the list for the SKC 2nd KAL vote. The 6 I left off the list for this poll (and the reasons I chose to do so) are: Boroque Ladies Jacket and Lacy Cardigan (these are both absolutely gorgeous, but are crocheted and not knit and since technically this is the Sexy Knitters Club and technically this is a knit along, I thought both patterns should wait for the next poll), Silk Corset Top (there are already several KAL's going on for this pattern -- email me if you're interested in the links to join one of these), Ribby Shell (there are several other nominated patterns that are very similar to this one, so I chose to omit it from the poll), French Tickler (other than the name, not very "sexy" looking, plus the knit along would be over in about 5 minutes with these tiny little things, so they were omitted), and last Island Dream (just because {imho} it's probably the least "sexy" {although very nice} on the list). See why I hate doing this??? I really hope everybody's okay with these decisions and will be flexible and patient by allowing me to put these nominations on the next list.

We will probably keep the poll up for 3 days or so (once the poll's actually on the site), so remind all of your fellow SKC members to vote!

Check back for the poll in a bit... until then,

Knit On Sexy Knitters!
