One more . . .

I know I recommended a sweater already for the next KAL, but I also have been itching to knit Sasha for a while now. The warmer weather is quickly approaching, and by the time we finish, it will be VERY appropriate!!! I just wound my linen into balls, so I'd love to have some company for this very, very SEXY knit!!!
I wanted to nominate a pattern I found a while back and thought was really cute. It would make an awesome beach cover-up for summer, and it's really pretty.

Strut Your Stuff and Fetching

This is my first finished knitted project,
other than simple dishcloth's.
I just started knitting about 6 weeks ago and I just love it! I can crochet like the wind, but was always intimidated by knitting. Well, not anymore! I made this little sleeveless tank for my daughter Jennifer. She is modeling it for me. She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida so I thought it would be appropriate for the warmer climate. It is called Strut Your Stuff.

I also just finished my first project using DPN's. I took a class at my LYS to make these and I finished them after only my first class! I have 2 more sessions and I am already done!
These are called Fetching Fingerless Gloves.

Oh, and I also taught my mom who is 65 to knit.
Just proves that you are never too old to learn something new!

Nomanating Sexy Socks

I personally am a sock knitter. I think lacy socks are sexy, especially on one of us SKC members! So why not a Sexy Lacy Sock for a Kal eh? I am nominating
http://tinyurl.com/345q3f
Rainy-Day-Socks for our next KAL.

Nomination

OK, I haven't cast on for Wicked yet, and my Sizzle is waiting for Spring (it's ALMOST finished) but I'd like to nominate Ms. Marigold !
It would be such a quick, sexy, fun little knit!

Past KAL list?

Is there a complete list somewhere of all the past KALs that SKC has done? I've got some catching up to do.

Better late than never

Opps the last post didnt make it so here goes again. Sorry for the late entry...

I finished wicked last week and it was a very satisfying knit. I loved how the colours turned out. I used Noro Silk Garden Colour 34. It is very scratchy though so I dont think I'll use it again. I left out the front pocket as i thought it looks better without. Had I knitted in a plain colour I might have added the pocket.

Nomination

I haven't even cast on my Wicked yet...where does the time go?
But I still have a nomination from the new Knitty!Isabella. It has a good range in sizes and is perfect for the warmer weather coming up.

Whoops and nom

Well, I somehow accidentally posted about another project here instead of on the correct blog, and now blogger won't let me delete the post. Sorry for being such a huge dork...

Well, as long as I'm here, hi, nice to meet you, I'm complainr. I might as well go ahead and throw out a nomination I'd been thinking about: Ms. Marigold!

Nomination

Here is another nomination from the new KNITTY
  • ISABELLA
  • Wicked in Rowan Denim

Wait for me!!! I got a late start because I was waiting on a backordered shipment of Rowan Denim (7 skeins in Memphis). This cotton yarn shrinks in length about 20% and fades just like denim. I debated knitting it longer to allow for shrinkage but didn't and it turned out just fine after washing. I prefer my tops to ride above the low-waist line anyways. Adjustments made: Used a #6 cn and knit the bottom ribbing in the crossover rib pattern for about 1 1/2 inches. KnitnRide

    Sexy Shawl

I finally finished my 'Half Circle Fan Lace Shawl' from "Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls" by Martha Waterman. I know it's not a KAL project, but to me a lace shawl is deffinately a sexy knit! Before blocking the shawl has a 'wingspan' greater than my 5'4" height. It isn't quite as deep as I had hoped, but hopefully blocking will take care of that. I will have to wait until I can go to the LYS to block the shawl as I don't have the floor space here, and dh (although supportive of my knitting addiction) just wouldn't tollerate my using the bed for blocking the shawl! (I know because I asked him. lol, yup I had to try...hehehehe)

    Sorry the picture sucks.

    nominations from sweaterbabe.com

i'd like to nominate two sweaters from sweaterbabe. one is called the fabulous lace inset cardigan, a bell-sleeved cardi for chilly air-conditioned offices and spring evenings, and the other is called the romantic cable and lace vest (though it's really an empire-waist cami).

(pics of the cardi are in my previous post)

    nomination: fabulous lace inset cardigan

i love this fabulous lace inset cardigan from sweaterbabe.com. if nominations are still going on, how about it?

the pattern is an $8 download and the recommended yarn is brown sheep lamp's pride bulky.

    Twinkle Cruise Substitutes...

From the back of her fantastic book:

Instead of knitting with four strands of Twinkle Handknit Cruise yarn, you can use a single strand, such as Jaeger's Pure Cotton, Crystal Palace Yarn's Breeze, Classic Elite Yarn's Bam Boo, Four Seasons and Povence, and Brown Sheep Company's Cotton Fleece nad Cotton Fine"

I think the confusing thing is that you use four strands of Cruise, so when you look at the yarn it doesnt make sense how it works in the pattern.

I was lucky enough to see her yarn at TNNA, she has great colours, really fabulous and lush. Look forward to seeing it in the shops.

Hope this helps, and yes, my vote would be for this sweater!

    Another Wicked!

So I finished my Wicked...actually awhile ago but I totally forgot to post it on here!

More details on my blog here...

Lots of fun to knit...I'm going to have to make another...

    Nominations

I would like to nominate Blue Sky's Eyelet Cardigan.

    Or Chicknits CeCe.

Wicked is done and man, I do not like this alpaca yarn or sweater on me! It is far from flattering and way too itchy.
    (Larger)
You can't really tell how much it doesn't fit me. Let me see if this picture tells the story:

    (Larger)

It is way TOO big around the neck line. I should have cast on for the smallest size to compensate for my rather smallish shoulder width and then increased until it fit me. The arms are way TOO big as well. I am now sure this yarn is not meant for me. I first used this alpaca to knit Something Red and that sweater looked horrible on me. Then I frogged it only to realize that alpaca is really kinky once you knit and frog it. So, I had to put the yarn into hanks, wash them and wait for them to dry. All this work and look - the thing is sucky!
It will feel good to drop this sucker into the Goodwill box.

    Sign me up...

I'd love to join this group of sexy ladies... a new KAL these days?

    Hello

I had a lovely post all written out and then I lost it :(

It pretty much said that I am very excited to be a part of this blog. I have a serious love affair with all things knitting related on the internet. Not sure why. The reason my blog is called me too, is cause I also wanted to be a part of the knitting blog thing, so here I am.

A bit of info about me. I'm an almost 29 yr old South African, I have a little girl (almost 4 months old) , one husband and one dog (Fudge). I'm not returning to work and try my best not to go too insane staying at home all the time.

Due to living in South Africa, it mght be a bit difficult for me to get the knit-along pattern, but I will do my best to get the pattern or to replicate it. I'm a very novice knitter, so I'm excited about knitting with some seasoned pros.

My nomination, which I hope isn't too easy .... are there any rules to nominations?

Glampyre Minisweater/Boobholder in Noro Silk Garden

Here are pics of my newest little project, the Glampyre Minisweater/Boobholder in Noro Silk Garden. The pattern is free on the Glampyre Knits website. It only took 3 skeins and 3 days to finish. I love it.

Last Call For Wicked KAL Drawing Entries

We will be taking Wicked/Eiffel KAL drawing entries up until March 8th so get your entries in if you haven't already. Don't forget to include a pic of your finished Wicked/Eiffel or a link to a blog showing your FO.

Also, it appears (once again) that those of you who are requesting invitations to join the SKC are either not receiving those invitations or the membership activation link is now working properly, as I've still got TONS of unaccepted invitations to join. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you request an invitation to join, but sure to look for and activate your membership. If for some reason, you have not received your invitation within a week of requesting it, PLEASE email me and I'll re-send it to you.

Regarding multiple posts, PLEASE try to delete your own multiple posts, as I'm apparently unable to do so from my end (believe me, I've tried). I'm hoping that Blogger is eventually able to work through the technical issues they seem to be having regarding large team blogs so please hang in there. I have looked into transferring our team blog to Typepad although it appears that each member would have to re-register to the SKC and I really don't want to have to go through all that. IF however anybody is aware of another blogging service that would allow us to easily transfer our existing team members to a new team blog, I would LOVE to know about it (even if it's not a free service).

Lastly, I'd like to remind all of you who nominate patterns to hyperlink the name of the pattern (in other words, do not include the entire URL in the post, but hyperlink it instead). Long URL's mess up our sidebar and I'm frequently having to edit these posts.

    Thanks so much!

    Lorelei Nomination

I would like to nominate Lorelei for our next knit along. I think the pattern is sexy and springy and allows to get creative a bit with the design and yarn choice. The vertical eyelet rows are random and up to the knitter. The author also encourages you to experiment with different yarns. The pattern is from Yarn Play by Lisa Shobhana Mason. Really fun book. Cute, eh?

Also, Vogue Knitting finally has their spring preview up!

    nomination

i nominate "ruffled top" from knit.1, the "love issue" (december).
it's body hugging, the neck is interesting, short sleeves, easy to find yarn...
    what do you say?

    Trying again...

This is the 5th time I've tried to post it.....so I appologize if it shows up more than once. If it does, I promise to come back and delete the extras (I'm sorry!)

I just found this awesome sweater called the "Deep V Argyle Vest" from See Eunny Knit! The pattern can be downloaded here that I'd like to nominate for the next KAL.

I think it looks great, is sexy and has kind of a punk edge to it. I also think we could use a wide variety of easy-to-find yarn for it so it may not be too expensive (a BIG plus for me). And this the the best part... "All the information needed to make this a successful first colorwork and/or steeking project is included here in exhaustive detail." Hooray for beginner instructions!

    What do you guys think??

    Late to the Party

So, after knitting Wicked I found myself with nothing exciting on my needles. Perusing previous posts (ouch... I think I hurt my tongue!) I fell in love with the Simple Knitted Bodice and had to knit one. I'm not done yet, but you can see my progress on my blog.

I eagerly await the next SK KAL!!

    Dee

    http://diary-of-a-mad-crafter.blogspot.com/

Edited to add: Incidentally, you can delete your own multiple posts with a little patience and refreshing to make sure it hasn't deleted already, despite having gotten the dreaded 505 error. This post originally posted 3 times and I was able to delete the other two. Please don't take it as a criticism if you haven't been successful in removing your multiples. I just figured that some people might not know they could at all. :)

    Multi-Wicked

I know the KAL is over, but I liked knitting Wicked so much that I made three: one in a solid navy merino, one apple-green for my mom, and this one with spaced dyed Koigu. I'm not always crazy about the way Koigu stripes, so I knit this Wicked with two strands: one of KPPPM multi of purple, pinks, grays, and black....the second of an almost-solid KPM purple. The solid purple softened the striping, and I ended up with a soft, cushy, 4.5stitches/inch sweater--- new favorite of mine.

I often avoid striping of space-dyed yarn with slip-stitch patterns, but using two strands (one being a solid) really worked for me on this Wicked.

    Nominations

I have several nominations. Photos can be found by clicking on the links. First, I like Joanna C's Prosperous Plum Tank, which is offered as a free pattern on her blog. It is a fitted tank with some fancy cable work that makes a sexy knit! It is done in cotton and would be perfect for the upcoming warmer months! Secondly, I discovered the Deciduous Cami, by Marnie Maclean. It is a fitted cami with an unusual cable type design in the front, ribbing around the midriff and a low cut, lace-up back. Last, I LOVE Annie Modesitt's Silk Corset Tank Pullover which has more WoW factor than any one piece deserves! It is a true stunner and gives the words "sexy knit" whole new meaning! The pictures can be found on the hot links.

    new here

    hello,
i am parisian and new here. got the invite as blogger was "pushing" people to shift to this version, so i did and my username is not zaz but it's joy now (same email).
by that time, i saw people were making a pattern called wicked, and another that i know and is feminine called "eiffel" (as in the iron lacy works of the "tour eiffel" in paris) from knitty.
i think it is a good idea to use a pattern that is available and free on the internet for everyone because we all buy magazines-or not- and spend a lot already on yarns that we find in the countries or places we live in. i would sometimes find free patterns online and chose from the yarns that i find here, i must do living in france, not that am complaining, there are tons of different yarns around the world.
now, i have just suscribed to "knit.1" and it's lovely... there is one pattern i may be doing for the spring season, it is pink, has short sleeves and frills to it i don't know if some of you already bought their "love issue" of december? i think it's sexy, feminine and has style, it could be a bit vinatagy and 50 ish.
i make small projects from patterns to learn new techniques but mostly i draw my own designs and knit them.
i had posted about doing "simply marilyn" in here and the post is gone. i was also asking questions, and i asked myself more questions when the post disappeared...
i thought this was like a webring where people chose whatever they thought sexy, posted on their blogs or here to tell about what they were knitting...
are there rules? i again say: i am new and would like to know what this is about, if things are supposed to be working, what is it that is supposed to work and what does not.i wish you a good sunday, here there is an event called "aiguille en fete" which translates as: "needles' feast" and it's an exhibition with stands of yarns, knitters, brands... it's really THE big event for knitters in paris and people will be coming from all over europe to participate in some workshops, etc...
there is even a "museum of felt" (literal tranlation) who will be giving workshops for the public starting age 7, cool huh?!

    a finished Wickd

I love this sweater. The pattern was very easy for a beginner knitter. I can't wait to do the next KAL. I used Knitpicks Andean Silk in Cinnamon.

    Nomination: Al-Araaf Lace Wrap Cardigan

I'd like to nominate the Valley Yarns Al-Araaf Lace Wrap Cardigan from WEBS. (Note: Scroll down to near the bottom of the page for the pattern.) The pattern is free with purchase of the yarn, or $1.99 if you buy just the pattern.

The wrap style gives you a custom fit around the chest and the lower lace section flows gracefully around your figure. There's a sample of this cardigan at WEBS so I've been able to see it on many people. It manages to look great on many different body shapes. And FYI, the Deerfield yarn suggested in the pattern is a luscious blend of baby alpaca and silk the drapes beautifully.

Another nomination for the next KAL

    Hello Ladies-

I'm new to the SKC and joined too late to participate in the last KAL, but everyone's beautiful Eiffels and Wickeds have definitely inspired me for the next one! Great job everyone!

I'd like to nominate Sahara for the next KAL (you can find more info at Stitchdiva . I think it's super feminine and really flattering. Hope you like it too and I look forward to meeting all of you during our next KAL :)

Ok, I finished mine a couple weeks ago and finally have pics and am posting. As you can read on my blog, for some reason I am not totally thrilled with this but I am going to think on it. Overall the pattern was quick and easy. I had to add in about 6 extra waist decreases of this would have been HUGE on me. But it ended up fitting pretty well. And I posted on the deadline!

But we all know what it really is.
I finished this on the 26th, but did not get around to posting until today.
Sorry for the bad pic..my photographer is on another job...and I had to settle for an amateur. =)

    Nomination - Ribs & Lace

I apologize if this is showing up more than once, I keep getting that too familiar error message.

This is Ribs & Lace from Interweave Sp 07

    Ribs & Lace

I would like to nominate the Ribs & Lace tank from Interweave spring 07.

I think it is so cute & perfect summer wear.

It's an Honor to be Nominated....

I like to nominate the Krista Tee from White Lies Designs:
    http://www.whiteliesdesigns.com/patterns/lpullovers/142.html
    Very pretty!

    Nomination - Goddess at StitchDiva.com

Wow! All these AMAZING Eiffels and Wickeds! I was too pushed and stressed to participate, but I have added these two patterns to my must-knit list, based on the glorious FOs you all have posted!

I've got a nomination for the next KAL - Goddess.

It's not available yet, but will be soon - I'm haunting the site daily, waiting for it to go live!

It looks incredibly comfortable and flattering, even for short, softly shaped me (softly shaped - that's a euphemism for "I've got more belly than I want or need, but I'm not willing to go to extreme lengths, such as doing sit ups, to make it go away"). Also, it appears to be undergarment friendly.

Anyway, there you have it. My nomination.

Edited to add that the pattern is now live and available for download! Yippee!

    KAL Nomination: "Flair"

I would like to nominate "Flair" for the next KAL. There is currently a kit for it on sale at kpixie. It uses Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton.

    Wickedly Disappointed

I truly love Wicked but did not finish mine as the yarn used, the mohair recommended, was a disappointment. I even picked it up last week and did a row or two and finally talked myself into putting it down and stop wasting my time. I am going to finish it but all in worsted(KP WoA) It is a beautiful sweater and there have been some glorious ones shown here.

    That aside
This is my nomination for the next...it is Licious by Berocco...the recommended yarn is a little costly but KP Mainline seems to be an equivalent gauge, is half the price but has much less yardage. I am sure there are other worthy substitutions out there. I am maiing this sweater over the summer anyways...I have a wedding in Sept I want it for....
