Hello everyone. I have finally cast-on for Fifi. I've been reading through the pattern and know I'm going to have some questions in order to get it right. I checked the errata page (thanks for the heads up Michelle), but apparently have the latest version of the pattern with the newest changes included (6/2007 revisions). I haven't gotten to the short rows part yet (I'm only on row 16, but its going pretty fast), but from reading the posts from others doing this project, I haven't heard any success stories yet. Anyone completed Fifi using short row shaping? How does it work exactly when not doing stockinette stitch? I've only done short rows in simple patterns before. Any and all advice or clarification is appreciated.

I can't give you any good advice. They didn't work for me. You can still do short rows even in the purl part of the ribbing. I just don't think it works well with the yarn and pattern gauge. That is just my two cents. I had to rip it all out! And I have done them before successfully.
Maybe the designer can answer your questions though. I am curious as to if anyone else has had success too!
I read about your problems on your blog. That's one of the reasons I'm asking. I haven't heard about anyone successfully completing the short-rows on Fifi. With my chest size, I think it's really needed, but I don't want to end up ripping it all out like you had to either! Hopefully the designer will have some new insight.
bonjour gals....we have been away planning for our french tours...so here is a quick note (to be added to later when i have more time!)...
placing about 3 short rows only in the k2 p2 ribbed area helps a lot...if you first increase at the side seams a bit (say 4 sts at the largest part of the bust & keeping in pattern) then add the short rows as a small triangle under that (there are directions for this in the sidebar of the pattern) it might be helpful...i wish i had time to trial this out with you but we are due to leave for france in less than a month and i have looming deadlines as well...i will try to check in more frequently and hope to add all our clarifications ...thanks for being so patient with all the finessing...you sexy knitters are the best!
xo, kristeen
I did do the short rows (4 to be exact) and added on the sides - posted pics, but it's hard to see them. But you can see the adds on the sides to help with the bust area in one of them....
