Yep, it's that time again -- time to begin our official nominations for the next knit along. Remember, we'll be accepting nominations for patterns that call for consumer friendly yarns only for this next knit along, so we're going to have to look a little harder before tossing our nominations out there. If you're unsure which yarn companies are considered consumer friendly, there is a list available on the Consumer Friendly Yarns website.
When you nominate a pattern, please hyperlink the pattern instead of including the entire URL into a post which can throw our sidebar out of whack. Hyperlinking means that you use the little icon at the top of the post editor that looks like sunglasses on a green blob (but is really supposed to be a chain "link", I think). Anyway, you highlight the word you want to hyperlink, click on the hyperlink icon above and enter the complete URL into the window that pops up. Voila! Including a medium sized pic of the pattern in your post is nice too!
We'll take nominations until December 10th and will vote for 2 days in mid December. After the winner is announced, we'll gather our supplies (quickly) and will begin the next knit along the first week in January. We'll also be announcing the winners of the last knit along within the next couple of days, so be sure to check back for that!
Have fun and let the nominations begin!

There are some manufacturers on the list that are not yet marked as friendly or not. The pattern I would like to nominate uses Jo Sharp and I this brand is not marked yet. How should we handle this situation? Would we still be able to nominate or should I hold off?
Excellent question! I would contact the Jo Sharp company and ask them. You could explain about our knit along and send them links to the SKC site as well as the Consumer Friendly Yarns site. Let them know that you will forward their response to the Consumer Friendly Yarns site (if you're so inclined) so that they may update their list accordingly. That's what I would do anyway....
Oh i'm glad you covered that! That's a great way to handle it! Thanks Jeanie.
Sounds good, Jeanie. I will give that a shot!
Hi! I'm really interested in learning how to knit so I can do my own funky designs. Do you have any recomendations for good "how to" books?
I'm pretty sure Jo Sharp is manufactured by Knitting Fever, which is listed as friendly.
No, Jo Sharp isn't listed on the Knitting Fever website, and I'm pretty sure KFI does not carry that line.
