Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Well, it looks like we'll have another "double knit along" this time with the two patterns who received the highest number of votes (Wicked and Eiffel). Knit either or both! Congratulations to the pattern designers for both of the fantastic patterns! I know that Sarah and Rachel check this board frequently and I'll contact Lana to see if she will be available for pattern support here as well. (Designers, please feel free to post and introduce yourselves to the rest of the ladies including how you can be reached for pattern support.)

There have been a couple of comments regarding bra straps showing with these (and other) sweaters so I'd like to throw my 2 cents in here, if I may. Like most of you, I despise seeing and showing bra straps, so if and when I wear something that I fear might expose mine, I choose a camisole with a pretty lacey strap to go over my bra straps. If you don't own a camisole such as this, they're everywhere and I highly recommend you invest in one especially since the layered look is so big these days. They're usually not expensive and frequently come in many colors. Some do and some don't cover the bra straps well, so try a few on before you buy one. I own about 5 white ones (as well as many other colors) and wear them often. The lacier you can find the straps, the more obvious it will be that this is NOT your bra strap showing. Also, the Zephyr gals have posted that a pic of Wicked can be found on their site (being modeled by a live person) and say that the sweater comes up higher on the shoulders than it appears to on the mannequin. With Eiffel, due to the laciness of the bodice, it's obvious that a camisole is being worn with it, so this should help with the bra strap issue as well. Perhaps we could post some links here on the SKC to some nice lace-strapped camisoles for those who are interested in adding some to their wardrobe. I bought most of mine from Abercrombie and Hollister, but I don't know if they have the exact same style any more. The ones I found have straps that are about 1.5 inches wide and cover my straps very well.

We will begin this knit along January 7th, so start gathering your supplies soon. We'll end the knit along at the end of February.

I'd like to wish everybody a wonderful holiday season. Whatever you celebrate (and even if you celebrate nothing at all), may this season bring you all joy, peace, and LOTS and LOTS of yarn :-)

Blessings!

I would LOVE a few links to good undergarments, camis, that sort of thing...maybe with a comment that these are good for larger women, these are good for big busted small women, these are good for everybody, these are great for small busted women, etc. I have much trouble finding a comfortable, well-fitting, minimizing bra 34DD(I've found ONE but desperately want a racer back and a satiny seemless one...and I've tried LOTS of them!).

Yay, I'm so glad that Eiffel ended up in the final two!! I have my yarn already as I bought it at Stitches East specifically for this pattern, and just need to swatch!

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Good plan Jeanie! Now I MUST go post-holiday shopping for cami's - lol My dd said I have to knit Wicked, so I guess that is settled - lol

Subbing yarn may be tricky on the Eiffel pattern, as it seems the pattern was designed to take full advantage of the properties found in hemp yarn. To quote from the pattern itself on Knitty, "The 100% hemp yarn was integral to this design as it is meant to skim the body and hemp provided the perfect drape needed."

I haven't contacted Lana yet about this knit along but will ask her to address this particular topic when she has a chance.

For Eiffel I'm substituting Dale Yarn's Svale, a 50% cotton, 10% silk and 40% viscose blend. The swatch meets the gauge requirements and I've already cast on and knit a few rows in the smaller circs.

Yea! - finally a KAL and I are on the same schedule! I just bought some Euroflax that I hope will work for this project. Let the swatching begin!

I am so excited, I actually get to be a part of the KAL this time! I was thinking about substituting Debbie Bliss Cotton DK for Eiffel. It is 100% cotton so I am on sure it will react as Lana described. I guess I will know more after swatching.

Happy New Year Everone!

Eiffel is wonderful! Off to the LYS to check out the hemp yarn. =)

The Eiffel pattern is going along quite well. It's easy to distinguish which row I'm on, can't wait until it is finished! And I can't wait to see all the other yarn substitutes.

Fantastic! Have been eyeing off Wicked and can't wait to get started :) Now to go yarn hunting ;) Any other aussies doing this KAL?

I would love to do my first KAL, too. I'm hoping to do Wicked but am concerned that its two days before the KAL is to start and the pattern still isn't available.....

I personally think that Wicked would be easier than Eiffel (but that may be because I hate ribbing ;) ) but both are really achievable :)
