Why Not?

Okay, so here's what I think we should do..... I've looked over the poll numbers and instead of doing a run-off between the top 5 or 10 patterns, I've decided to pull out all the stops and make this a FIVE way knit along! I mean, why not? By adding the 4th and 5th place winners, we can add an additional 42 knitters to the knit along for a total of 129 knitters!

As far as future knit alongs, we are looking at several different format changes -- we'll keep everybody posted.

For now, let's go ahead and get our supplies ready for this five-way KAL! Since we're running a bit behind, let's go ahead and officially declare this KAL started right now! I can't wait to see which patterns everyone is planning to knit and which yarns you'll be using!

ETA: The top five patterns are Labyrinth, Notorious, Aleita Shell, Printed Silk Cardigan, and Talia.

So just to clarify, the KAL will include Labyrinth, Aleita Shell, Notorious, Talia, and Printed Silk Cardigan?

Although it didn't catch my eye at first, the Printed Silk Cardigan is growing on me. Knitting Daily has a helpful page showing the Printed Silk Cardigan on different women.

Oh sorry -- that wasn't very clear, was it? I'll add it to the post -- thanks!

I LOVE Talia. It looks so challenging, but so cute. I may be getting in over my head this time. Can't wait to find the yarn!!

How long does a KAL here generally last? I won't be starting until next week, so I was wondering. Thanks. :)

*sigh* Bummer... still don't like any of the choices. I'll sit out yet another round. I am, however, following the alternative formats being discussed on Ravelry with great interest. So far I have nothing new to add, but I think everyone involved is doing a fantastic job of making practical suggestions that will end up including many more participants.

Just as well that I sit out anyway, I have a huge amount of swap commitments right now. LOL! At least the nominations introduced me to the next sweater pattern I'll be doing for me, Titania. :) Thanks!!

I fell in love with the Printed silk cardigan when voting began and am now nearing the finish line. I've knitted it with Debbie Bliss silk in a pale blue ... it looks gorgeous. A couple of minor faux pas on the way .... :( but can't wait to post a photo when it's finished!! I love it even more now I have seen it on all the different staff at Knitting Daily!

Damn now I have to pick which to knit?! Just kidding, the more the merrier!! Just makes my decsion harder!

Do we have to re-request to be part of this KAL if we didn't do the last one?

Hi Michelle-

Yes, you'll need to request posting privileges again from yarnaholic (click on the "How to Post" link on the main blog page) in order to be able to participate in the next KAL. Well, if you want to post anyway :) Hope that helps!

Hi Making Rain-

I'm not sure what the official end date for this current KAL is, but we usually have about 2 months or so per KAL I think. Hope that helps!

I had asked for posting privileges before we voted after the last KAL ended. I assume that I don't have to again until after this KAL. Is this correct?

Hi Kozy Kitty-

I think you should be fine for the current KAL, but an easy way to check would be to go to your Blogger dashboard and see if the SKC appears on it. If not, then you don't have current posting privileges, if it does appear, then you're good. If it isn't there, be sure to send a new request to yarnaholic1963 and get them renewed. Hope that helps!

OH! Dear! Decisions, decisions! Too delicious!
Do I really have to decide?
Can I pick 2?
I want to do the Labyrinth; funny I just bought the pattern. But, then there is the Notorious, just smutty enough to make hubby smile. What’s not to love about both of them?
OK, I’ll be good. I’ll start with 1, then –well who knows?
What am I saying? Life’s too short; I’m doing them both! With my own little “fixes” along the way of course; I can never leave well enough alone.
Do we have a deadline? I have this stupid vacation. Not really stupid; just time away from knitting. But there promises to be yarn shopping along the way; if I can slip away from the mother-in-law who says, “I really think you might have a problem with yarn, you know, honey?” Aaarrrgh! Whatever! BMB
Sign me on for both. Love them!

PS Thank you for bringing back some suggestions that fit the Sexy part of the Sexy Knitters! I love them!
