A newbie's progress on Eiffel!

As a new knitter, I was doing great with the bodice of Eiffel, but it all went downhill when I attempted to knit the 1st sleeve! You can read all the nutty details on my blog.

I am shortening the sleeves to become 3/4" length, due to a serious lack of yarn. I still have about 4" before I will be ready to start on the next sleeve, which I hope won't cause me as much trouble! So long from sleeve island!

Eiffel progress

Here is my first Eiffel sleeve, about 2" from being finished. Being a more snug fit, the sleeve has less stitches than most and is going pretty fast - more like knitting a sock!

Working the increases into the pattern was a little confusing for me, and I hope I can figure out what I did so I can do the same for the 2nd sleeve! I'm excited to get the second sleeve done so I can start knitting it all together.

I don't see too many Eiffels out there - I'm anxious to see how the rest of you are doing with yours!

Late to the party

Late to the party...but I'm making Wicked! Very excited about it...I'm using some lovely Swish in my stash (yah, stashbusting). I'm planning on doing the short sleeved version because I don't think I'll have enough for the long sleeved - I have 440 yards in green and a couple of skeins of black I want to use for the pocket & maybe some of the edging. Wish me luck!

Mohair Wicked near the end

I have just finished the hip increases and I am about 4 inches from the bottom. I have been bugged about the bottom of the mohair being a rolled edge. Does anyone else feel that way? Is anyone thinking about knitting the bottom of the mohair with a seed stitch, rib or the crossover stitch pattern?

A Wicked Pause.......

Hello all you Sexy Knitters!!! First time KAL-er here! I am momentarily stalled on Wicked. I used the two balls I had in my stash & am currently waiting for my yarn order to arrive so I can kick it back into gear.
Really happy with this pattern so far and love seeing all the different colors and yarns.

Wicked Progress

I finally split the sleeves off today. Progress after that has been much faster! I am actually 17 rows after the armholes now. After looking at it and trying it on, I may end up doing 3/4 length sleeves instead of long. I'll decide when I get to that point and see how it looks. Either way, I'm very excited to see the progress coming along so fast now. :)

Finally out of the starting gate!

Well I've finally cast on for Wicked! I'm using stash yarn..Knit picks Andean Silk in the Sangria color. Really pretty, but I wish I was using the teal Artyarns...we at least sort of...I am trying to knit from my stash more this year!! I had to other projects to fnish up before I could start this one. So they are done and and I'm on the move with wicked. I'm taking it to my sit and knit tonight to work on it!

Crossover pattern question

I'm an inch into the crossover collar and only JUST noticed that the 124 stitches that I cast on for the 32-35' size are NOT divisible by the 8-stitch pattern repeat. So, the first cable and last cable are not mirroring each other. Has anyone considered any adjustments for this or are all of you who are knitting the 32-35' size ignoring this inconsistency in the pattern? Trying to decide how much this bothers me. . .

Something Wicked this way comes. . .

I've been a member of SKC for some time, and have wanted to knit many of the projects, but this is the first one I've actually managed to get off the ground! My blocked swatch has no change in gauge, so I'm ready to go, and have subsequently cast on and knit two rows. Hopefully I'll see some speedy progress. I'm knitting with Green Mountain Spinnery Mountain Mohair in Lupine,using stash yarn, which I hope qualifies as consumer friendly, in the unlikely event that this yarn isn't consumer friendly! The colors are fairly accurate. It's a lovely heathered lavender-blue with flecks of grey and red. I'm very excited to finally be knitting something for myself and will post more pictures as progress is made! Sknittymama

Wicked Swatching

I'm going to use Patons Classic Wool in Paprika. My gauge was off on size 7's, so I'm currently swatching with 8's. I am a tight knitter, so I usually have to go up a needle size to get gauge. Hopefully I'll be casting on by the end of next week.

Plodding Wickedly Along

This is my first KAL and my first SKC post, so I'm doubly excited about the whole thing. :) I cast on for Wicked on the 7th, but sick children have made my progress somewhat slow. I am currently 30 rows away from taking the sleeves off. :( But I hope to get there over the weekend. Here's the progress so far. Sorry for the fuzzy pic:



Aside from being my first KAL, in all my years of knitting this is the first time I'm making something for myself! :)

My hands hurt

I'm new to the KAL (and a KAL virgin to boot) and have bravely (insanely, given my schedule) decided to try to knit both sweaters. My yarn is on order for Wicked, but I had the hemp in my stash for Eiffel. I have the hemp because I thought I was going to make a pillow on size 2 needles (really, what was I thinking?) but gave up quickly because the hemp was so difficult to work with. When I saw Eiffel, I thought -- OK, if I use a size 6 needle, it must make a world of difference. But, it hasn't. My tension is all wonky and I'm already considering giving up again and just waiting for my Wicked yarn. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for working with hemp? I have washed it, soaked it in fabric softener laced water, and beat it against my shower walls, but it is still driving me crazy.

Wicked try on!!

Here is my Wicked so far, I am two rounds below the sleeve split off point. I have used approx two hundred yards to get to this point, I think I'll have enough with the 600 I bought.
I'm really happy with the way it's fitting!!

btw - the neckline on the sweater isn't crooked, but the shirt I have on underneath is.

Wickedly Pink

So, I decided to use the Jaeger Shetland Aran that has been calling to me for months. I love the yarn, it's perfectly cheerful for winter knitting. Downloaded and cast-on Jan 8th; so far, so good. I'm also working on Hourglass, but those details are on my bloggity-blog. Here's Wicked so far:

Pleasantly Surprised :o)

I have finished the lace rib portion of the body of my Eiffel. I am thoroughly enjoying the lace pattern. It is interesting, but simple enough to memorize, so that I can take it everywhere with me, without having to bring the pattern.

I am VERY pleasantly surprised how my I am enjoying knitting with the Euroflax. It just feels like stiff string in the hank, but softens a little every time you touch it. Just winding it into a ball, and then as you knit with it, you feel it ease up. I can't wait to see what happens when I wash it!

Old Blogger/New Blogger Issues

Hello All! Recently we've been inundated with emails from those of you who are switching to the new version of Blogger regarding problems posting, accepting blog invitations, etc. We have attempted to make the switch to the new version of Blogger, however it appears that not all blogs are able to make the switch. This is all the information I could find regarding this issue.

My stash is running low.

I am definitely going to run out of yarn on my Wicked sweater. I had 7 skeins (640 yards) and I am not going to make it to the bottom ribbing or the pocket. I am knitting a size medium and it is eating up the yarn LOL. I have Because I pulled this out of my stash there is no way of getting the same dye lot. But, I think it will be OK. Hopefully if the pocket and ribbing are slightly off in color no one will really notice. I tried it on today and I am posting a picture (although I have to say I think it looks great in person and scary in the picture). I am happy with the way it fits. I have a 38 inch bust, it is a little snug but I could still slip a t-shirt on under it. I have been following the pattern exactly as written. I think I tried it on at about 6 inches below the arm hole. Sorry for such a bad picture but I thought you would want to see the fit. Well I think my project is on hold until the weekend so I can track down some more yarn. Wish me luck.

Wishful Thinking

I'm throwing my yarn in the ring and declaring this to be my very first SKC KAL. Eiffel!

I had the wonderful task of accompanying a friend to "Needles and Pins", an

amazing yarn store in London, Ontario. Very drool-worthy.

Here you see pictured the Alchemy Yarn "Silk Purse" that I'll be using for my top.

I purchased the black ribbon from Michaels a couple days ago, but am now having second thoughts. Ever since I saw an episode of "What Not To Wear" where Stacey and Clinton said that wearing black with other colours "cheapens" the other colour, I

can't but agree with them!

So, the "dilemma" is:

should I keep with the black yarn, thus having a pink and black top

or

should I just buy another ribbon colour? If so, what colour? Perhaps brown? Cream?

I think it would be a little tricky to find an appropriately coloured pink to match.

What do you think?
