Updated Nominations

Alrighty! I think I've gotten the broken links to Hush Hush and Lolita fixed and have updated the nominations list (thanks to Heather). Please let me know if there are any patterns missing from the list. The last day to nominate patterns is November 30th. I do need to request that you nominate just one pattern per person and be sure to include a link to the pattern for us (it makes adding it to the list MUCH easier).

We are currently up to 52 members (with many more pending activation) but we need MORE! Spread the word (if you haven't already) about the club and about the upcoming KAL poll and put your buttons on your blogs. Wouldn't it be great to have at least 100 members by the time we start our first KAL? Oh, and be sure to check out the SKC gear that we have available in the Cafepress store. All SKC proceeds will go into a pot to fund club expenses and to purchase prizes. So far we've got a whopping $6.00 in the pot which doesn't quite cover the cost of the domain "SexyKnittersClub.com" registration, so get to shopping ladies! The link's on the right side of the navigation bar where it says "Shop". Perhaps we'll have enough funds to be able to give away a prize to the first person to finish the KAL. The cooler the prizes, the more people who will join the KAL and the more people who join a KAL, the cooler the KAL! See how that works???

Okay gals -- keep the nominations coming and remember, just one per person (at this point) please ;-) Y'all are a tough group to keep up with!

My nomination

Annie Modesitt's Faux-Fur from Knitty

What better way to represent?
PLus, if you're not a fan of the eyelash/Muppet skin yarn, I'm sure there are other usable luxury yarns that can be substituted.

:)

Nomination

I really love 1930. I think it would be a quick knit and something a little different. I'll be the first to say I wont be modeling the finished product but I think it would be fun to do, just the same.

Yay for sexy knitters!

Happy Holidays everyone!! While doing some holiday knitting I remembered some patterns from Kertzer that I thought were pretty cute so I wanted to nominate them before it was too late! These free patterns are all pretty cute and sexy. The "teen tops" are the ones I was thinking of knitting but the "Cabled Twin Set" is also tempting.

I couldn't comment for some reason. . . .

Anyhow, this was the comment I was going to add to the last post:

Thanks from me as well. A couple of things. 1) I couldn't get the links for "hush hush" and "lolita" to work for me. 2)didn't we nominate "Hopeful" as well????

So, what gives with the commenting I wonder?

Friday, November 25, 2005

Hey Y'all!

Just wanted to let everybody know that I've not fallen off the face of the earth -- just busy with Thanksgiving like I'm sure everybody else is. Anyway, I also wanted to remind everybody that there are just a few days left to nominate patterns for our first knit along. I still need to add a few nominations to our side bar and will try to have that updated by the end of the weekend. On December 1st, we will start put the poll on the site for everybody to vote on their favorite pattern and we will leave the poll up for 3 days. After the voting is over, I'll post the results so that all who want to participate may purchase their supplies. Please remember that this is just the first of many KAL's so if the pattern you like doesn't win, don't get discouraged. It might win the next KAL! There are soooo many great patterns up for nomination, it's going to be so hard to choose just one!

BTW, we currently have 48 members of the Sexy Knitters Club with several more memberships pending. Woohoo!!! If you've contacted us regarding joining the club, please be sure to activate your membership by clicking on the link in your invitation email.

My new blog

Hi guys! I just started my own blog. I guess I'm a little overly excited about it but I thought I would debut it here.
Nothing too exciting. I'm still working on it so I'll be adding lots of pictures and links in the next couple of weeks.

Hope everyone's having fun with their holiday knits. I can't wait til its over and I can knit something fab for me!

~Liz

Another Nomination

Hi there. First day here so why not nominate for the KAL!!! Okay, how about Hopeful by Jenna Adorno? The pattern costs $5, but she makes a $6 donation to fight breast cancer. It benefits a cause close to all of us, it's a great little top, very sexy and bra friendly (that's important for some!). I think it would be a blast to knit.

Love this blog idea!!!

Yes, I know I'm a goofball

But I couldn't resist a sexy pose in my new Sexy Knitters t-shirt! And no, that isn't a real cig. It's a eyeliner pencil.

New KAL Nomination (edited for sanity)

These all come from Rowan. All the patterns I have peek at on the list below are 1 British Pound which equals to $1.72 US Dollars. (roughly). Okay I have edited this piece for the sake of sanity for the editor and Jeanie. These are my favorties out of the 6. I narrowed them down to 3.

Here's an easy one...

These are almost completely useless, but definitely sexy~

I used to work with the designer. Needless to say, everyone at work had a couple of chuckles when I sent out the link to her former coworkers!

Accessories

Hi gals,

I'm noticing a theme on the accessories in patterns that we are nominating, namely, chokers. We need to knit up some I-cord or crochet some flowers together!

Post 'em if ya got 'em!

KAL Nominations and Voting

Hi again Ladies (still no... well you know). Okay, I've posted this information already in previous posts, but I'm going to post it again today and then put a link to the KAL Guidelines on the sidebar for new members to find easily. Here is how the knit along pattern voting will work.

We will take nominations for a specified period of time (for our first KAL, the nomination deadline is the end of November). Within a couple of days after the nomination deadline, I will set up a poll on this site and y'all will be able to vote on your favorite pattern for the KAL. Once all the votes are in, I'll post the results of the poll, and the pattern that received the most votes will be the pattern that's used for our first KAL. Once you see a pattern nominated, there's no need to nominate it again, although if you'd like to post your input about a previously nominated pattern, please feel free to do so. Just realize that no votes are being taken at this time and won't be taken until the first couple of days of December. Also please realize that there will be many knit alongs, so if you don't care for the pattern that's voted on, you can always wait for the next knit along

Hi! And Nomination

Hello! Happy to be here, and feeling very sexy with my gross head cold. ;)

I'd like to nominate the Ribby Shell over at chicknits. You have to buy it, but it's not much, fairly simple, and very sexy in a refined way, something you could wear with anything.

We should come up with some kind of system! Maybe set a deadline for the nominations, then collect votes? I'm thinking we should be allowed to vote for two or three patterns (since it is so hard to choose just one!), and then we'll tally up all the votes and go with the one that got the most. Or should we be so formal?

Yet another nomination...

Marnie McClean's Bella Paquita is a gorgeous sweater that I think would look great on a variety of body types, and its free!

Whose keeping track of the KAL votes?

I was wondering if anybody is actually tallying everyone's votes for the KAL? If so, maybe they can occasionally post what the votes are so we know what's in the lead? I have gone through the newer nominations and I STILL like the Marnie Maclean design of the corset type camisole, Deciduous.

Yowza!

Soleil!!

Oooh, I think Soleil is perfect too!
It's beautiful, sexy, and I think would flatter a lot of different ages and body types!

Also, I think it is interesting, but not too difficult for some of us who are not very experienced knitters yet!

New Nominations

Good morning Ladies (still no men)! Okay, I have an official nomination or two (or three or four) of my own to add to the list (which btw, has been added to the side bar). While checking out Teyla's nomination for the Ladies Baroque Jacket (which is absolutely FAB), this little number caught my eye as well. So, I'm officially nominating the Lacy Cardigan. It is crocheted too, but it's just too pretty not to nominate. I'll be honest, when I first saw it, I thought it was knit and didn't even realize it was crocheted until after I added it to the side bar! Oh well, it's all good ;-) My second nomination is Soleil, which I like because it's bra friendly and doesn't look too incredibly difficult (it's rated piquant on Knitty's scale).

And believe it or not, I'm sort of keen on Giraffe by Rachel King. I don't know if it's the gorgeous color, the cute cowl/hood, or the model that makes this top so appealing to me, but I've always liked it. I find it quite feminine even though it's neither fitted nor skimpy -- not sure it qualifies as "sexy" though... so for now it stays off the list. Also, does anybody else like Jenna Adorno's Tempting pattern?

Okay, today is house cleaning day for me, so I'm off to do some sexy cleaning!

Knit on sexy knitters!

HEY LADIES!!!

Yey! I'm in the sexy knitting club!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone!!
As for the KAL, I secong the corset top emotion! I've been dying to knit that!
However, it's unlikely I'll be able to 'model' it because I am pregnant (due in april), but knitting something sexy would give me some motivation to actually be able to wear it for summer!
My name is Christine and I over-use exclamation points!
I love this group!

Just saying Hi

Well just saying Hi to everyone, lets see what sexy knit have I done, Back in spring I did make the honeymoon cami which was pretty cool.

Hello!

I just had to join this group - I've been told by my best friend that I already AM a sexy knitter, and my nickname is Nakedie! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and cast my vote(s) for the KAL: I like Deciduous, Orangina, and Sheerly There.

Can't wait!

Hola

Hi Everyone-

I'm new to the club and relatively new to all the knitting blogs on the web but I love them! I'm going to be starting my own blog in a week or two. I've been wanting to for months but between moving to a new city, law school, and planning a wedding I haven't had the time! Although I have somehow had the time to read everybody else's blogs and acquire way too much yarn!!

I've been trying to convince my fiance that knitting is totally sexy and not just for grandmas so I love the idea of this club.
I'm planning on making Julia Trice's Honeymoon Cami to take on my own honeymoon in march and I love Orangina by Stephanie Japel.

I'm a sucker for a good test.
Well, I think that the Tube Toporini or the honeymoon one are my favorites so far. I've never done a KAL before. So I'm not the best person to ask for their two cents.

Hush Hush and a few others

I just fell in love with is pattern. The picture is just darling! Hush Hush . Then there is this one also Allusion. This one I thought would be fun to do Sheerly There it is almost like peek a boo. Then I found this one Island Dream which is just the picture but if you go here Oknitting you see the all of her patterns for us in the US is $5.00. The other ones are from Knitty and the pattern is listed online so you could just copy and print.

How 'Bout Tube Toporini for our KAL?

Cute- sexy. $4.00 over at Zephyr style. Can be worn alone, or as pictured, or even as a camisole under a jacket!

I don't have an opinion on the KAL, but I'll check out the patterns and cast a vote soon!

Good Morning Ladies (still no guys here)!

Just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful knit along nominations and suggestions. It's going to be really hard to narrow it down to just one. Thank goodness we can do another knit along after the first one! I also wanted to let you know that I will be adding the "official" nominations to the sidebar on the right with links to the patterns for your viewing pleasure. Once you see a pattern under the nominations section, there will be no need to nominate it again. The dead-line for nominations will be the end of November and we'll vote on which pattern we'll use for our first KAL a couple of days after that. That should give us plenty of time to gather up our supplies and be ready by the first of January.

A couple of other things. If you know the price of the pattern you're nominating, please provide that information for us as well so that I can include this info on the "ballet" when we vote. Price does matter to some and could influence their vote. Also, if you know the skill level for these patterns, that would help too. The more info we have, the more confident we can be when we have to vote on a pattern. And don't forget to include a link to the pattern with your nomination so that we are able to "oooh and aaaah" over it. Oh, and if the pattern you like best isn't chosen for our first KAL, don't fret... we'll have LOTS more KAL's and your favorite could be in the next one. And of course, if a pattern that you don't care for is chosen, you can always sit a KAL out... it's certainly not mandatory ;-)

Knit On Sexy Knitters!

That there pattern of mine

Hi all. Jeanie invited me to join the club and here I am.
She thought you might want to know about my blue corset top

It will be for sale before x-mas and will cost under $10. It's named Deciduous, and part of the proceeds from the sales will go to Habitat For Humanity. Yay!
I would rate it an intermediate level knit.
It's partially knit in the round, then back and forth. There are many simple cable crosses and the cables are mapped out on a chart.
I think I'm going to add some short row instructions for the busty among us (if only that were my problem) and there will be a modification for a less revealing back treatment that will be more bra friendly, as well as instructions for lengthening the piece for folks who like their bellies well covered.

I think that's it.

Orangina

I'm throwing Orangina into the voting, I think that she can handle it. It is a Glampyre pattern, and I think it's sexy and sophisticated all at once. That, and I could use a good excuse to knit it up! More photos at Knit and Tonic, and at Domesticat. The pattern is $5, and kits are $30-35.

I have a few suggestions

Okay Has everyone seen the Knit -n- Style magazine December 2004 edition? I can't find my camera right now but.....on page 25 the Cable Tank, page 27 the Ribbed Vest(which is cute), page 34 the Bamboo Beaded Trio, page 38 the Fringed Shell, page 48 The Sideways Cable Tank. When I find my camera I will take the pictures so I can show you what I am talking about. Unfortunately the site didn't have it online. :(

Another vote for the Lolita...

And here's the link.

I also dig Marnie MacLean's lace up top, so maybe I just have a thing for that rear view...
Or maybe it's just an attraction to talented young designers. Dunno.

Hello Fellow Sexy knitters!

I have another nomination for our first pattern. What about Lolita legs from Knitty?

I'll Show Him...

My husband is always cracking jokes about old ladies and knitter's! We will show him and all those others that lump us together!
My vote is for Honeymoon Cami!

Another pattern option

Any Knitty Gritty fans out there?? Two weeks ago, the show theme was Naughty Knits. Check out the pattern here. Sexy!!

Some Basic Information

Hey Gals (so far we have no guys here)! There are a few things that I wanted to mention to all the SKC members. First, the BEST way for your comments to be read by the group is to enter them as an entirely new post (such as this one) and not as a comment on somebody else's post. So if you have a pattern suggestion for our first knit along or if there's just something that you really want EVERYBODY to see, please leave it in a new post (just as "knittingnurse" did). Hope that makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll try to re-word it or explain it more thoroughly.

Posting is easy. Just log into your Blogger account, select the "Sexy Knitters Club" blog from your dashboard and click on "Create new post".

Also, April brought to my attention that if you haven't chosen (by checking off) the "share my profile" option (on your Blogger account), other members will not know about your blog. Even if your blog is hosted elsewhere, you can enter the URL into your profile and fellow members will be able to visit your blog by seeing it in your profile. Some of you may prefer for your profile to remain private which is completely alright, but for those of you who would like for other members to be able to visit your blog, it would be better for you to select the "share your profile" option and put your blog URL into the "homepage" section of your profile information. Clear as mud???

We've had a couple of suggestions for what to use as our first KAL pattern, but we need more. I'd love to have all of the "nominations" in by the end of November so that we can have a few weeks to get our yarn and supplies together before the KAL actually starts. If there's a pattern that you want to nominate, please nominate it in a new post (not as a comment under a previous post) with the title of "New KAL Nomination" as the title of your post. In the post, be sure to include
  • the name of the pattern
  • the designer of the pattern (if you know it)
  • where the pattern can be purchased
  • the purchase price (if you know it)
  • and a link to a pic of the pattern for all other members to view.

After all the nominations are in, we'll take a poll to see which pattern gets to be the first SKC KAL. The tentative start date for the first knit along is January 1st, so that we can have a week to recover after Christmas is over. Of course, you can start any time after that in case things are still hectic for you at the first of January -- there are no hard and fast rules here. What's the fun in that???

I also want to thank everybody who has mentioned the club in their blogs -- the word is definitely getting out and the response has been unbelievably positive. If you haven't already, feel free to read all the comments posted here on my blog to see what I mean.

Knit on Sexy Knitters!

I'm here and rarin' to go!

Got the button up on the sidebar of my blog. Posted the button on my blog as an open invite to my blogworld buddies! Yeah for us! I love the KAL idea and agree we should DEFINITELY wait until after the New year. Are we all going to vote on what to do as the KAL????

If we could have the pattern for that saucy little number my Marnie Maclean that is posted below, I VOTE ON THAT ONE!

Thank you Jeanie for setting this up :)
I'm so excited - now my DH can have another reason to understand why knitting is my passion--- his wife is an "official" Sexy Knitter!

One More Thing

Be sure to EMAIL Jeanie to get signed up for the club. In some cases just leaving a comment doesn't work because your profile may not be public. So be sure to take the extra little step of sending an email, please.

C' Mon and Join the Fun ya Cheeky We Knitters!

We are working on more and more buttons for the club and here is one more to choose from.

I tried to make the eyes sort of all inculsive colorwise, like a melting pot of eye colors symbolic of the women who are knitters - all different and yet with one important thing in common.

KNITTING like maniacs!

Now all I have to do, is plan the photo shoot =D
I guess I'll put on make up this time, and brush my hair, shave my legs, put on something pretty, and hire a photographer! I use the term 'hire' very loosely - either I'll find the timer setting on my camera and run to the 'X' - or my sis will be the shutter bug.

Have fun peeps! I hope this turns out as fun as it sounds!

Here's a smaller one, too, the other one was a little big for my blog =)

New Stuff!

Oh MY have I been busy today! First, I registered the domain name www.SexyKnittersClub.com and will forward the domain towards our blog. I figure it's a lot easier to remember SexyKnittersClub.com than it is to remember whatever our current blog url is. That should take affect within a couple of days and I'll post again once it's official. Second, I've already made up some Sexy Knitters Club T-shirts (and other stuff). Here's an example of one of the t-shirts in the shop. You can check these out by clicking on the "shop" link on the right side of the navigation bar. Money raised by the sale of these shirts will go towards contest prizes and whatever expenses the club may encounter (such as domain name registration, etc.).

We've had an excellent response so far -- sexy knitters everywhere want to join and we're more than happy to have them!

Welcome!

Welcome to the all new Sexy Knitters Club blog! My name is Jeanie and I'll be the host of this blog.

This blog was started as a whim when Heather and I started talking about how many beautiful (and sexy) knitters there are out there in blogland. We thought it would be fun to start a Sexy Knitters Club where any knitter who feels sexy can join. I posted about it on my personal blog and won't repeat the post here, but as you can see we've already got several members. Welcome ladies and spread the word! Here are your buttons. Add them to your side bar and display them proudly!

And for those of you who need a larger button, here's one for you.

So here's how we think this is going to work, although we've never done this before and we truly have NO idea if it's even going to work at all ;-) But what we're hoping for is for this blog to be a members blog, which means that YOU all get to do the blogging. Oh sure, there will be a moderator (probably me) to make sure things don't get out of hand (we know how rowdy some of you knitters can get) and to make sure we don't get TOO sexy. In other words let's not get X-rated here, okay? (I know, I'm such a party pooper.)

We'd like to try to focus on the sexier WIP's on this blog. What do we consider "sexy"? Well, that's probably best answered by asking what do we consider "NOT sexy"? "Not sexy" is (in our opinion) anything that's frumpy, matronly or just plain ugly. So when we say "sexy", we're not necessarily talking about showing a bunch of skin (although that can often be quite sexy) and (as Heather says) body parts. So in short, we're trying to steer away from "slutty sexy" and focus more on "beautiful sexy". Classy, feminine, flirty... just like all those sexy knitters out there! Want some examples of what we consider "sexy"? Here are just a few.

The Honeymoon Cami by Julia Trice

Unnamed by Marnie Maclean

And of course, the Silk Corset Top by Annie Modesitt

Of course, these are just a few of thousands of "sexy" knits out there and we will continue to post more examples in future posts. Of course, we would prefer it if our MEMBERS would do this for us (hint, hint) but just in case they don't, we'll try to fill in the gaps.

Other things to look for on this blog are interesting "sexy knitting" articles, "sexy knitting" knit alongs, a "sexy knitting" FO member gallery, "sexy knitting contests" and even "Sexy Knitters Club T-shirts". Sound good?

So, in order to blog here, you will need to become a member. In order to become a member all you need to do is to email us. We will email you with your blog invitation as soon as possible, but please understand that it may not be immediately, as we have day jobs too ;-) Have questions? Let us know.

Remember, if you FEEL like a sexy knitter than you ARE a sexy knitter!

So, let's start this off with a knit along, shall we? BUT! Let's not start it until AFTER the holidays... agreed? Until then, we want your input regarding what would make a great FIRST "Sexy Knitters Club" knit along. What patterns out there do you sexy knitters like?
